Get Div 1AA National Champ and philly market.

Good move for TV revenue but it may not be great for football purposes.

I thought Nova was already in the BEast? I also thought that their seating capacity was somewhere in the high teens and did not qualify for Div 1 status.

Nevertheless, UConn made the move and I would love to add Nova to our schedule.

If nova moves to the Linc(shared with Temple) or moves to the PHilly Soul MLS stadium they will be D-1 ready provided that they want to make the jump. Personally I've been pulling for this since we joined the BIG East since they are an upper tier FCS program.

Villanova + BC = AQ after conf expansion.

I don't like the move. The only reason I have heard that makes sense is that this adds another school to the football side of things, and thus when it comes to voting on things related to football, football gets the nod rather then the non football teams.

The Big East has had an invite for Nova to join football for over a decade. The more i have looked into it, it appears Nova is now making a decision one way or the other before the end of the year. I have heard a lot of rumblings the football schools have have given them a "crap or get off the pot" so they can invite someone else (some combination of UCF, ECU, Memphis or Temple). This way, they can tell the basketball only schools they have given it their best shot but Nova and ND do not want to join BE football-- time to look elsewhere.

Don't forget the issue with an unbalanced football schedule. The league wants to add a football team without having to add another basketball school to an already bloated league. It is hard to schedule 5 nonconference games as well and Nova would allow the league to have 8 league games. Also, it wasn't that long ago that UCONN made the leap to an FBS school and they have become a solid program.
