Dayton head coach Brian Gregory has been offered the Georgia Tech job according to sports by brooks. There are a lot of people reporting on this so Georgia Tech Associate AD Wayne Hogan released a statement and said:

"The search for the next men’s basketball coach at Georgia Tech has not concluded and is still ongoing, contrary to a number of published internet reports on Friday. As is our policy, we do not comment on ongoing searches. However, due to these erroneous reports we felt compelled to clarify the status of the search process"

We will keep you posted if we hear anything new on this situation.

OT: Kennedy Not Offered Extension

Ole Miss is not going to give head coach Andy Kennedy an extension. Kennedy has three years remaining on a contract that pays $1.3 million annually. The state maxium for a contract is four years, so Ole Miss has typically extended Kennedy after the season to keep him at the max. He was not extended after his arrest in 2009 following altercation with a taxi driver in Cincinnati.

Welcome to the coaches carousel.....according to this Gregory has not been offered and the main target is Chris Mooney of Richmond.

It's something to talk about. I thought the same thing when I read that. Brian Gregory in my opinion has not shown himself to be anymore than an average coach. I like watching the coaching changes and the potential impact it could potentially have on recruiting.

Reports are indicating that Mack turned down Tennessee, who was offering 2 mill per year. That is huge news for X, I guess that it proves what a hometown guy is worth.

Guys like Mack and Stephens who are well compensated and have great support can really be picky about where they go. Look at what Matta and Miller did. They got more money, but they also got great situations to recruit and coach to. I think Stephens will move on but it will be to a major program with great support and stability. If Matt Painter leaves Purdue, that may be of interest to Stephens but this guy is primed to take over a top name brand school should somebody decide they're done.

I think the jury is still out on Mack. No reasonable coach would want that job right now.

Gary Parrish is reporting that Tennessee has hired Cuonzo Martin of Missouri State. Good hire.

Jeff Goodman is reporting that Gregory is still the leading candidate at Georgia Tech. Mind boggling. Tennessee is going to make a better hire than GT.

The real winner in this is Dayton. They will get rid of Gregory without having to fire him and pay him the buy out on his contract. Depending on his contract, he may actually have to pay them!

Haha that is comical to read those comments. I can not really blame their fans though. Although I really have nothing bad to say about Gregory, I have nothing great to say about him. Hard to imagine him getting a Big Time coaching job after such an underachieving year.

He won the 2010 NIT.
