Xavier dropped their third straight tonight, dominated by Nova 81-58. Nova had 53 in the 2nd half. People on Twitter are raging about the team being soft and having no intensity. I've never liked Mack (for numerous reasons), but it seems like even X fans are starting to get sick of him. Lands recruits, yet can't coach or develop them.

His team his first year was really good with Lyons, Crawford and Holloway. His second year they backed into the tournament and then got lucky by playing a #15 seed and made the Sweet 16. Last year they didn't make the post season.

Looks like each year they are getting worse, I think he'll be able to salvage some momentum if he can get them into the tournament this year. They certainly have the opportunities in front of them.

The game tonight was the last top tier team they play on the road. They don't have any good road wins, have Creighton and Villanova at home. Going to be interesting if they can make it in. Marq, GT, St.J and DePaul not a stellar lineup.

The AAC has been very good at the top this year, but I think nobody expected the new BE to be as bad as it has been. They really only have 1-2 good teams, and I don't see it getting much better. I hope the AAC can be solid next year w/o Louisville. I have been impressed thus far with the young talent of teams like SMU, Perry/Egbunu at South Florida, etc. Also, even though I don't think they will be amazing next year, I think Temple will be better, they have lost so many close games this year.

I believe South Florida would be an NIT/Bubble caliber team with a healthy Anthony Collins. Should he stay healthy next year, I expect the same. SMU is going to be favored to win the league. Temple should be back to NCAA caliber. UConn, Cincinnati and Memphis all are going to be a bit down, but still expected to compete for an NCAA bid. I see this as a 3-4 bid league consistently.

I am very concerned about the bottom of the league though. We are going to replace 2 games with Louisville for games with ECU, Tulane and Tulsa. It is imperative that UC has a good OOC because a bad loss or two in league play will be horrible for the teams vying to make the NCAA's. The AAC isn't going to be nearly this good going forward.

The weirdest team in the conference is Houston. They have some young talent, but I wonder if they will ever be able to put it all together and compete for a bid. They aren't terrible this year, and they do have some good returning players. TaShawn Thomas is only a Junior, Daniel House is a Sophomore, Danard "Chicken" Knowles is a frosh, Jherrod Stiggers and LJ Rose are also sophomores. Each of those 5 average over 8 ppg, that is a pretty solid core.

Yeah Memphis will probably be a bit down, but they have 6 freshmen this year (five 4-star recruits, one 5-star), plus a few jucos coming in next year. I think they'll still find a way to at least compete to win the conference.

Unfortunately their coach is pretty awful. They do have a lot of talent, they actually would be served to get a new HC as he could win right away...

As much as we complain about attendance, Houston definitely has the worst fan support in the league. I don't think they even had 2,000 when we played them, pitiful....

It would be nice if we could schedule one or two OOC games during the conference season. Memphis is playing Gonzaga in a few days. Might be some decent options in the Mountain West, Atlantic 10, and Missouri Valley Conference as well.

The later in the season a victory is, the bigger impression it makes on the selection committee. I fear a scenario where we go through, for instance, our last 10 conference games with maybe 2 or 3 quality games and lose all of them, then get bounced early in the conference tournament. Even with some solid early-season wins and a good conference record, we could end up on the bubble in that type of scenario.

Basically, I'm saying I'm NOT looking forward to ECU, Tulsa, and Tulane joining the conference. Ugh.

That arena is downright eerie looking when it's 3/4 empty. I understand it underwent a renovation 10 years ago and it looks like there's not a bad seat in the house, but I've rarely seen an arena look so ugly on TV.

I'm not either but if you schedule OOC well you can overcome it. It's CUSA revisited. I used to hate playing ECU because it seemed like that for UC they were their USF of the day. They'd beat them but it seemed like offensively UC never played well against them.

If you can't get big brand or middle of the road teams from the Big 6 to play you, UC will have to try and schedule top teams from leagues like the Mountain West or CUSA. A return of playing Miami and Dayton wuld be better than playing Our Lady of Perpetual Motion. Instead of the league carrying the OOC schedule, the OOC will have to carry the lower half of the league schedule. But I know Mick is making a huge effort in scheduling. If he doesn't happen it's simply because teams don't want to play them or the they want to play in a one sided situation.

Exactly. I at least feel like UC and UCONN carry a little more clout than a New Mexico or San Diego State. We were in a power conference seven months ago and coaches are aware we have a good program.

St. Johns wins on the road at Providence, they are really coming on strong here down the stretch. Could they possibly jump both Xavier and Providence as the 3rd team in the tournament from the Big East?

Ohio State also won on the road against #17 Iowa. A lot of Big 10 teams are stumbling, and I don't think it is due to the competition (unlike the old Big East).

That was their first win over a tournament-quality team this season. They would probably have to win 7 of their last 8, or win 6 of their last 8 and at least make it to the conference championship game. It's possible, but 4 of their past 5 wins were against mediocre teams.

I would like to see UC continue to schedule Pitt somehow if they can't with Louisville. Pitt always has a tough team and we play them well. I thought we kinda started to build a rivalry with them in football and basketball while in the big east. I think the same of West Virginia.
