He'll be eligible to play next season. Don't think he had any interest in UC 3 years ago but maybe now??

I could be wrong, but I thought there was a rule in the Big East that said a player can not transfer from one big east team to another.

Kevin Duffy said:
The Big East does not permit a player to transfer from one school in the league to another. However, if UConn is barred from the 2013 NCAA tournament, it's unknown whether Oriakhi's waiver would allow him to transfer within the Big East and keep his eligibility.
Cooley said "never have spoken about it" when asked if that scenario could happen.

I wouldn't rule it out yet, as I'm assuming that rule was for players not in Oriahki's situation (senior, team banned for remainder of his eligibility).

Would be exactly what we need. Ughh...

But then again, who couldnt use a 7 footer that is a defensive monster

I would pass. Seems like he had a real bad attitude after he lost his starting job this year. Didn't even seem like he cared vs ISU in the first round.

No drama queens on this team or me first attitude players.

While I agree that attitude isn't what we need, especially considering the team effort which made this team successful, but Oriahki seems like a great addition.

We lose a veteran player like Yancy Gates, and could pick up a veteran player like Oriahki to pick up the slack. He's played in the Big East, played against other forwards including Yancy. He knows his way around and could make an instant impact.

The fact that he wants to transfer, essentially to play for a title - and get more PT, only makes me think he "wants it more".

Interesting thought, I do not know if we would even be eligible to get him. But if Obekpa were to choose to go somewhere else it could be a nice stopgap solution and give us an extra scholly in the loaded '13 class.....

I doubt he'd be allowed at another Big East school...but he would be eligible right away (without sitting out a year) anywhere else.

In other news: Biruta, the big man from Rutgers, is also transferring

Just curious but why is our 13 class loaded? I feel like I've heard this a lot

Did anyone watch him play this year? He wasn't very good. Though I guess he could still be an upgrade over Gaines and Mbodj, but IMO he had a very disappointing year.

Scheids, I don't think JackBauer was saying UC's class was loaded, but the 2013 class itself is considered to be a very good class.

Ah my mistake. That makes a lot more sense...thanks.

Obviously he isn't coming to UC, but I'd take him over anyone on the roster next year.

mbodj

give mbodj a chance. he was hurt all year hell be healthy by next year an i bet he put on atleast 20 pounds now that he can workout all off season.

Mick has stated he wants Mbodj to lose 15 pounds so he can play in a more uptempo style. He moves pretty well laterally, but needs to improve getting up and down the court. I think the ankle injury caused him to gain some unnecessary weight.

Jeff Goodman of CBSSports tweeted last night that Oriakhi's short list is UNC, Kentucky, Missouri, Duke, and Xavier.

One of these things is not like the other...one of these things just doesn't belong...
