Sorry if this has been brought up recently, but what do you guys think the likelyhood a 4th scholly opens up is? I now there was a lot of mention of a a 3rd becoming available before Lance declared but it appears Bishop will return.

With Davis and Biggie both being Sr.'s I question how much they would want to transfer. Especially Biggie, if he was concerned about PT I think he would have moved on last year. And Davis has seen decent minutes. Obviously, Mick can push them towards what's in their "best interests".

So, any news? Are we thinking 3 man or 4/5 man class? Lord knows I'd like to add another new body over retaining one of these two.

We will be receiving a committment within the next 6 days. I wouldnt be surprised to see another scholorship open.

I've stopped trying to figure out what Mick is going to do. Frankly, I'm not sure he's certain until the pieces fall into place.

My best guess is we have a 4 man class with the two bigs already signed, Burton and Poland. This of course is assuming that Burton and Poland sign. If this happens I think you see Davis or Bishop gone. I don't think Biggie goes anywhere and my guess is Bishop is the one to go. I think we'll know a lot more for this coming year and 2011 after Thursday. I have no inside info, but I think Burton and Poland may make a decision by then and we already know Teague is supposed to announce Thursday as well.

A lot of people throw Biggie's name out there. I don't have a problem with Biggie. Sure I wish he'd have been better, but you need guys at the end of your bench and he is still a big body to use as an option to disrupt a team's gameplan.

I think if Mick gets the commitments he will open up as many spots as he needs to.

My guess.

Biggie - Medical Redshirt ( like Kenny Belton) Gets to remain on scholarship and complete his degree but does not count against our B-Ball scholarship limit. Biggie can get this because of his foot problems. If Biggie does not want to do this then he transfers.

Davis, Bishop, or Dixon could be gone.

I think we lose 1 of the three and most likely Davis ( I hope)

I still like Dixon. At least he rebounds and goes inside when his shot isn't on. Problem: like Davis....poor or inconsistent shooter.

I like Dixon as well. I just can't see Mick asking Davis to move on. For all we know, his attitude has been superb and he always plays hard on the floor. If I had to pick, I think it would be Bishop gone just because of the attitude issues last year.

I agree. Hopefully he gets a medical redshirt and gets his degree. If his foot problem is as bad as proported, then he also has to realize by now that he will not make a living playing basketball, either here or overseas. He seems like a good kid and I would hate to see him be asked to transfer.

I hope Dixon remains as he still has a lot of potential and plays hard whenever he is on the court. He has to work on his shot and IMO needs to change his mechanics. His shots seem to go up ackwardly.

When he gets in, He successfully clogs the lane, provides a shot blocking presence and gives us 5 fouls inside in a tightly officiated game.

I think it is important, for just the reason you described above, that Biggie remain an active player for this team unless Mick has another big who can contribute immediately. With only 1 year left, I don't think the medical redshirt option (if even a possibility) really matters. I don't know that there is another big to add to this class.

OK the let me clear something up and I think I have this right. We're not talking medical redshirt here. That would give him a year off to heal and then he comes back and is still on scholarship for what would then be his senior season. He would then be occupying a roster spot still.

What we're talking is Medical HARDSHIP which is what Kenny Belton was granted. It would allow Biggie to finish school on academic scholarship and get his degree while not taking up an athletic scholarship.

Big difference.

Off topic from title, but does anyone know if Belton stayed at UC? I really hope so. Short of his free throws, I really liked the way the kid played.

Agreed, I really liked how Belton played. Its a shame he had the health issues. As for Biggie I would like him to stay on the team. Bishop on the other hand, I have never liked his game and to quit on your team is a big no no in my book.

Precisely. I don't know why he didn't get more minutes. I guess his foot was worse off than Mick was letting on. I saw him in the Deveroes league last summer and he seemed to move a lot better and be able to stay on the court much longer than in previous years. I was hoping the same thing would translate to the season.

HA, i seriously hope your joking... So you want to keep a division II type player, and get rid of a Big East quality player? What does Biggie bring to the table?

I like Dixon, also. He hustles, is a good rebounding guard, and does drive, which could have been used more last year. He lost playing time at the end of the year, but I would like to see if he can develop. I think he adds a lot more dimensions than Davis, and as far as anyone says, he has a good attitude.

Dixon has a knack for offensive rebounding, and I would have liked to have seen him take it to the hoop more often. But, that goes for pretty much everyone.

Well for one he didnt quit on the team. That for starters would put bishop out the door in my book. Two, Biggie may be a mid-major player (not D2) but you can't teach 7 ft even if its for practice. I would go into more detail but don't feel its a forum to bash our own players.
