WHY DO COACHES OPT NOT TO USE THE QUARTERBACK SNEAK WHEN IT'S 4TH AND INCHES?

ARE YOU STUPID? The success rate has to be higher than handing it off to a guy 5 yards behind the 1st down marker....

...Kay is not a small guy either...

Coach Butch Jones is all talk...he calls out UC fans for not showing up and then the fans come out in masses and Jones delivers a 0. I have never been more embarrassed to be a UC football fan I felt like I was watching the bengals. I am ready for basketball!!

I don't have a problem with Butch calling out the fans, our fanbase and Cincinnati fans in general really suck. No one had a problem when Kelly called out the fans, unfortunately that's what you have to do in this town to get the fans to come out. The attendance and atmosphere at the Syracuse game was embarrassing. There's more atmosphere at a road game than a home game, because the fans that travel are true fans. The north end zone (the rowdy section as UC calls it and wants it) doesn't stand on third down or on any big play, they don't even stand on the opening kickoff. They only stand at halftime and to boo. As far as Butch laying out a zero yesterday, I didn't realize he was on the field. Yeah maybe his play calling could be better at times, the fourth and inches for sure, but when your O-line and D-line both get pummeled you are not going to win a football game. We had no running game yesterday and that's supposed to be our bread and butter. We got no penetration on the QB and let Rutgers run up the middle time after time. That is simply you getting beat at the point of attack. We lost to a better team, plain and simple.

Yeah I agree with you that fans/attendance is really weak, I was talking about that the other day. The play calling does fall on the coach because it was beyond conservative and did not give us much chance to win. I think what really sucks has just been the poor QB play all year. We have been really spoiled the past years and the sudden drop off is terrible. I also don't think we lost to a better team, we gave that away, plain and simple.

I'm really not trying to argue with you or single you out because I tend to agree with your opinions on most things, but I don't feel they gave that game away at all. We intercepted them twice in the end zone and blocked a field goal to keep them down to 10. If we were putting up points they would've exploited us with the pass. Their two big receivers would have lit us up if needed. They grabbed a lead and were able to run the ball and control the game. They beat us at the point of attack on the offensive and defensive lines. It wasn't even close. We've gotten by with making big plays on defense and putting up points against weaker teams to look like we are better than we are. Look at the yards our team has given up all year. It's ridiculous. Even the Pitt game, which looked like a demolition on our part we gave them as many yards as we gained. Our offense has been successful because we could make big plays in the running game. Rutgers took that away. Butch called no different plays yesterday than he's been calling ever since Collaros went down last year. We became a running team and a conservative passing team due to bad QB play and honestly no receivers have really shown a playmaking ability (at least being able to beat defenders one-on-one consistently). We didn't even really get hurt on stupid penalties yesterday to stall the offense like we've been doing all year. I hate to admit it, but we lost to a better team yesterday. We have alot of improving to do. Losing Wolfe has killed our defense. We used to get some penetration and were good at stopping the run. We got neither yesterday. That falls on the players getting beat. The offensive line got pummeled. That falls on the players. People blame coaches too much, at some point the players have to step up and make plays and own the game. I'll agree I'm not crazy about Butch's play calling at times. Half our runs are telegraphed and we go side to side. I don't blame Butch for not wanting to put the ball in the air with our QB play.
