For the most part the people on this board have been very optimistic about the upcoming season. Which is weird because this is "suppose" to be a down year for us. I'm still un sure of how good we will really be. As of right now these are my predictions for the year.

Non conference: 9-3 (losses to NC State, SDU, and VCU) (quality wins NEB and Xavier)

Conference: 13-5 ( losses to UConn, SMU, Memphis, Temple, and Houston

AAC tourney: 1-1

Overall record: 23-9

NCAA tourney: 10 seed losing in the 2nd round

I think UC will be better than people than people think but there will be growing pains. My thought is they will win somewhere in the 23-25 game range and get better as the season progresses. I love the potential of this team but potential is just that until it's reached.

There's no point in me typing out my prediction, because it's basically exactly this. LOL. I think 23 wins and a 9-10 NCAA Tourney seed is about right. Overly-optimistic me says we could mesh so well and win 26 games and get a 6 seed, but pessimistic me says this could be a tough year with an overwhelming amount of learning, and a record around 18-13 and possibly an NIT birth. I think your guess is the middle ground of all that. This is the first season in a while where nothing will really surprise me. So much uncertainty.

I know the 18-13 NIT thing is worst case scenario talk...but damn you gotta give Mick more credit than that. He has our program so far ahead of that, even in a potential "down" year. We breezed through this conference last year with less talent, less depth, and Louisville to compete with.

We also had a 1st Team All American and the conference DPOY. I know that UC will be good this year, probably winning 13 conference games, but UConn and SMU will likely be better. Memphis will battle us for the 3 seed in the conference tournament, IMO.

13 conference wins is more than fair. I think I'm higher on this team than most. I just can't imagine a scenario where we'd go 18-13. Would that be 8-5 non-conference and 10-8 conference? No way. We could lose any player to injury and still be better than that. Mick will always win 20+ games as long as we are in this conference.

I think we make the tourney and lose in the first or second round. I am high on this team, but I think next year when we return all 5 starters will be the year to look forward to

Memphis has Josh Pastner. Enough said. :D

I just wish Cincy had the recruiting advantages Memphis has. New arena, unflinching support, and top recruits coming out of their backyard every year. With all the talent Pastner has had and continues to get, I wonder how long his leash is if he doesnt start winning in March. I just am not worried about them because I know Mick can out coach him everyday of the week.

They have the best front court in the conference though. Shaq Goodwin will be a first team all-conference player and I think Austin Nichols is the best player in the conference.

I love Nichols wish he would of come here. He can score with either hand.

Was talking about Mick's ability to spot talent early at the FB game. I believe that UC was Nichols first or second offer.

As long as Memphis plays no defense I'm not too worried about them head-to-head. Both times we played them last year our offense looked great. That is saying something. Even Rubles dropped 20 on them and the first time around Lawrence looked like a stud against them. I do agree about Nichols, he really impressed me last year.

I get what you're saying, but keep in mind...WORSE CASE SCENARIO. What do we know about this team? Potential. That's all we know. Nothing is for certain. 18-13 is only if ALL goes wrong. This doesn't have anything to do with Cronin either. I love Mick. There's just a ton of question marks to guarantee 20 wins. This isn't a typical season. 7 new guys. I absolutely do think we reach 20+, I actually guessed 23. If you think absolute worse case is over 20 wins, I think you're being a little too optimistic.

Now that we are a couple of games into the season, I predict we finish 22-9.

That was my original prediction, and I think I'm sticking to it. Basically everything I anticipated so far, except Guyn and Thomas are worse than I expected and some of the newcomers are better than expected. Also would say we are a little better on defense and a little worse on offense than I would have predicted. It all evens out.
