SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- Junior forward Robert Mitchell has been dismissed from the team by Seton Hall coach Bobby Gonzalez. No reason was given.
The 6-foot-6 Mitchell played in all 31 games this season, making 15 starts, and averaged 8.4 points and 3.8 rebounds.
Mitchell had been unhappy about his playing time and openly criticized his coach's game preparations and in-game strategy following Tuesday's loss to Notre Dame in the second round of the Big East tournament, telling a reporter that "it's hard to stay consistent as a player, when the coach isn't consistent."
Gonzalez announced the decision in a statement issued late Sunday afternoon.
A transfer from Duquesne, Mitchell is expected to graduate in May.
