I had a long conversation the other day with the father a Cincy football player (a junior who is a two year starter). Here is what he had to say.

1. Most people around the program have heard for some time now that Notre Dame is Kelly's "Dream Job," but he himself has not heard that come from Kelly's mouth.

2. He has never heard anything about a "teabag" incident. As a matter of fact, I had to explain what it was. He only laughed and said he thought if there were photos, they would already be on the net. But again, this is nothing that has come up around the program.

3. On Kelly's supposed "drinking" and "womanizing," he said he could not imagine that being true. He said Kelly is all over Ciny area doing outreach and community relations stuff. If he is doing anything it's sure not in public.

4. They have great discipline throughout the program.

All in all, he did not have a single negative thing to say about Kelly. I know he hopes that Kelly stays at UC
Friend sent me this via email. Thought it would be something interesting to share.

I just don't see how he isn't going there. If he had zero intentions of leaving Cincy....he would say so, and not let this drag on....unless it's about leveraging more money.
The one thing I keep going back to, is Bk continuing to move onward and upward, no matter how good he has it at each institution......and let's face it, ND (no matter what the record is) is still Notre Dame.
I just got that feeling.

I think that's exactly what it's about, but we're not just talking about more money for BK. We're talking about more money for his assistants and for the University to support the infrastructure growth needed to sustain a big-time program.

If BK straight up says "I'll be the head coach at the University of Cincinnati as long as they'll have me" the incentive to get the practice facility done ASAP and start working on a Nippert expansion suddenly is decreased. We know we need to build these things eventually, but we need them urgently to retain BK. As long as fans keep thinking that, money will keep flowing in.

Excellent first post and agreed 100%

Thank you Mr. Admin, sir, and I encourage you to keep up the positive feedback. I love to hear about how great I am as much as possible. :D

It may not be about money, but it sure as heck is about leverage.

As a bearcat fan and season ticket holder i don't want to see BK go...but as a ND fan, I'm torn!

Let me ease your tornness, which clearly isn't actually a word.

If ND doesn't take BK, they have other options that could very likely be just as successful as he could at Notre Dame. Bob Stoops, Gary Patterson, Pat Fitzgerald are three of those options.

If ND does take BK, that leaves UC looking for a new head coach. And UC's options will not be nearly as esteemed as ND's. Our new head coach would probably be unproven and therefore much more likely to fail. Couple this with the idea that BK may not even succeed at Notre Dame, and your options look like this:

  1. You want UC to likely falter while ND possibly continues to falter, or
  2. You want UC to succeed while ND possibly continues to falter.

See, when you put it that way, there's nothing to be torn about...BK should stay put! :D

but here is the difference...BK will suceed wherever he is at! HE IS THAT GOOD! if he is doing what he is doing here at UC with the recruits that he has, imagine what he could do with the recruits that are at ND!

Unfortunatly that does leave Cincy pretty bare boned! because he is a tradittion guy he is a guy who not only is asking for a raise but a raise for his whole staff. He's a family guy and these guys are his family! And i see those guys going with him IF HE GOES!
