haha seriously ^. One of the best statements of that paragraph...The spanking we put on the A10 champs hahaha :)

Other than the obvious because we all hate X, I like this statement because all we heard last year was how weak our non-conference was, while at the same time everyone showed so much love for X, but no one seemed to give us any credit for beating them by 20. Maybe this guy does know what he's talking about. With that said, I hope none of our players see this poll.

There is no question that the UC basketball team under Mick Cronin turned the corner back to national recognition when it advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament this past season. Now Luke Winn of SI.com believes that not only have the Bearcats returned to the national conversation, they have taken their place among the top 10 teams in the country.

Winn ranks UC No. 8 nationally as he looks ahead to the 2011-12 season, behind North Carolina, Kentucky, Duke, Ohio State, Syracuse, Louisville, and Pitt. That’s four spots higher than he had them in his first rankings for next season that he posted right after the season ended.

Are the Bearcats really that good?

Here is Winn’s assessment: “The Bearcats handily beat Missouri in the first round of the NCAA tournament and return the core of that team, including power forward Yancy Gates, and promising freshman guard Sean Kilpatrick. They’re my dark horse pick to win the Big East title.”

Winn is right that the core of last year’s team returns. I would take it a step further in saying that from a pure talent standpoint, the Bearcats aren’t losing much. The five scholarship seniors who completed their eligibility will be missed for their experience and their determination to put the program back on the map through a long and painful rebuilding process, but if those who rank recruiting know what they’re talking about, the talent level of the incoming players is better. There is no substitute for experience, though, especially in the Big East.
