Syracuse Game

that'd be nice, its all about whether or not we can get to the basket, if we rely on the three ball we won't win the game, all of our guards are excellent at driving into the lane. It's tough to get into the lane against a zone but if we penetrate the zone like we did in the last 8 minutes of the game against Georgetown then we have a very good shot of winning this game.

Probably not the right place to post this but this team, staff and most importantly Head coach have done a tremendous job this season. There have been times I have been embarassed for the treatment of MC by the so called bearcat fans in this city. If this run doesn't vindicate him and make people believe he was the right guy for the job nothing will. Not to sound all bearcatMick on you guys here is f=some facts you may want to read i got from lances blog.

vs AP Top 25
The Georgetown win was UC's 6th vs a Top 25 AP team this season.
UC's most wins vs Top 25 AP teams under Bob Huggins was 5 in 1995-96.
Huggins was 42-48 vs ranked teams while at UC.
He was 0-5 in his final season...6-13 in his final three seasons.
UC was 3-2 in Kenyon Martin's senior season.
To be fair, Mick gets more opportunities vs AP Top 25 teams in the Big East than Huggins did in CUSA.
UC has averaged playing eigth Top 25 teams a season under Mick.
UC averaged playing five Top 25 teams a season under Huggins.

Great write-up. Surprised Huggins percentages weren't higher. Favorite part of your post: "Not to sound all BearcatMick on you guys".

Killa has to have a big game. Last game Killa and Dion did not play great.

Thing that scares me is our lack of depth. Cant put in Gynn. Cant do it. I would use Davis III, Cheik, and Justin.

If Gynn comes in it has to be for 2 minutes max. I like the kid, I think he is going to be really good but he isnt there yet.

As stupid as it may sound, one thing that makes me think we can win this game is our 3 point shooting against Gtown. Mick emphasized this after the game how proud he was, shooting 9.5% and finding a way to win. Obviously Syracuse is a different animal than GTown, but we can't shoot 2-21 again right?

Sidenote: I love Dixon and no one shot well yesterday, but looking at the box score he shot 4-17 from the field; 0-6 from three. I feel like we're going to get burned if that continues. He can't be shooting almost twice as much as Kilpatrick. Again, love the kid and what he brings to the table; just think he needs to tone back the shooting a bit for the better of the team.

I like the "we are due" theory.

The key to the game will be hitting the offensive glass. When UCONN was banging the boards it kept Cuse from running out and getting easy baskets in transition. It also pervented them from getting in a offensive flow. Cuse, as with most zone teams weaknesses is rebounding. If we can get some points off missed shots, limit turnovers and slow their run out game and make them play a half court offense we may have a shot. Of course we need to hit some threes and Yancy needs to pose a threat inside. The realist in me says we lose the game but the fan in me says remember Buster Douglas vs Mike Tyson. Go Cats!!!!

Guyn* and I think he can play decent defense, just do not allow him to pass against this zone, as I recall he and JDIII made some bad passes that lead to lay ups last meeting.

Bruce Weber was fired by Illinois (Mike Thomas) this morning. How long before the Mick to Illinois rumors start?

Gates is coming on at the right time again. I hope we are starting to notice that we are a very effective team driving the lane. We should only be shooting wide open threes or late in the clock...especially Dixon. We beat GT and MU while shooting pathetic from 3 and not the greatest FT%. I think we are going to need some pull up jumpers as well as some great D, rebounding, composure, and heart.

We can do this...but the Bearcats have done me proud either way!

Did you hear Mick in the post game? I believe is comment, and it was a nice shot he took at WVU, Cuse and Pitt. Close quote here "why would any recruit not want to play in this league and not sure why any team would want to leave it!" Mick is not leaving, not a chance!!

I think Mick wasn't taking a shot he was just speaking out loud about his thoughts and dreams. Its a dream come true to coach in the big east and play in this tourney! Mick is just "livin the dream!!" UC PLAY FOR BE TOURNEY CHAMPS!!! SO AMAZING

Mick was definitely taking a shot at WVU, Pitt, and Syracuse.
