It feels like a terribly down year for AAC. And yet, the numbers don't support that.

I went and looked at the last years AAC field vs this years via KenPom and was happy to see our bottom half teams have made a great improvement.

For example:
Teams ranked 200+ in KenPom
2015: 5 (ECU, Houston, UCF, South Florida, Tulane)
2016: 2 (South Florida, Tulane)

And even then Tulane is 24 spots higher than last year. And South Florida is 50 Spots higher.

Add in that South Florida has a 4 star recruit coming in next year and a #67 class ranking so far. Uconn has a top 10 class coming in.

also if you compare Kenpom Conference rankings from this year to last we also improved.

Conference rank:
2015: 10th (.5547)
2016: 7th (.6761)

Also in 2015 we had 6 teams in the kenpom top 100, This year we have 7.

So All in All, I still would love to get into another conference (like the Big 12) but am still happy to see good year over year growth from the backend of our conference. Last year we had 5 potential extremely terrible losses. This year its more like 2 with a few others not being good losses but also not season ending ones.

I would expect to see more growth next year. We have a league with good coaches. It all a matter of time before Houston is a top 25 team, they may already be the most improved team in the league this year (220 to 92)
