You will NOT get an un contested shot off against these Cats. I love it. Offense has been impressive but Im more impressed by this defense.

I hope that is the case. So far they have been playing against high school JV teams. Big East teams won't miss some of the easy layups and 3 point attempts that these terrible teams have been missing.

I'm in the wait and see mode for the offense as well. To me there is a lot of standing around and jacking of 3's. They can get away with it against these crappy teams which is why I hate playing all these horrendous games. It teaches bad habits.

That said, they are still better against the crappy teams this year than they were last year.

Yeah I agree, I will wait and see. But one thing is for sure, we have some serious blocking capability and its awesome. The past few games there have been times when I've seen them over hustle to go for a steal ans they get out of position quickly. Luckily we are playing scubs and it hasn't mattered but that is something to take notice. Also our press hasn't been very impressive and have gotten beat quite a few times. But once again, it hasn't mattered. It will be exciting this weekend when we play Iowa St. and Unlv or Oregon to see where we are.

I don't get impressed with play against cupcakes.

But the positives I see are the following:
1. I'd rather they be taking these teams to the woodshed rather than winning by 10 or 20. Always a good sign.
2. UC's depth and conditioning, already at this point of the season, is wearing opponents down. An opponent that plays mainly 7 guys is in for an exhausting game.
3. UC clearly can go 2 deep (or more) at every position without missing a beat or much of one.
4. Defense is smothering mainly because of the conditioning and returning experience.
5. Offense is much improved because it's less stagnant and boring. A slow half-court offense not only bores the fans watching, but the players get bored with it too. I like Rubles slashing and penetration, and most of the guards are attacking the basket too. Which has made the perimeter open season too.
6. UC's size and low post athleticism is going to give opponents fits. Mbodj, Nyarsuk, and JJ are going to rack up 5+ blocks per game as a unit, and intimidate even more.

One of the better assembled UC teams in recent memory. I don't want to put too much pressure on them, or get my expectations too high. But on paper and from what I've seen so far, not too many weaknesses. And surprisingly, as good as they appear to be, I can see room for improvement, mainly from the second team and hopefully the low post develops some offense.

You have to consider the competition. I think U of L will get a fair share of uncontested shots.

I agree with most but disagree with point 3. There is a major drop off when Cash goes out of the game. There is also a very big drop off when SK/Parker go out of the game. IMO this team is not nearly as deep as people seem to believe. While UC's young guys are good they are no where near Cash, SK, and Parker and I think when they start facing competition you won't see Guyn and Sanders but for a only a few minutes to give some rest and JDIII and Thomas will barely see the court....I do think there is a good rotation in the front court with JJ/Rubles and Mbodj/DN.

I agree there is a drop off. But not so much when only 1 guy subs in at the guard position. Or any position.

I don't think Mick is going to swap out all 5 guys at a time to give guys breathers unless they have a big lead.

I'm looking forward to having our starting guards on the floor for long stretches. I'm glad the youngins are getting experience but where I was worried depth would lack most, was the front court. With there being good, solid, functional depth at 4-5; this should be a great team.
I want to see them play a real opponent though.
