UC plays thomas more this thurs at 6 at fifth third, game will be broadcast on gobearcats.com

Diarra is by far the biggest question mark going into the year, definitely want to see how he’s developing, the game was too fast for him last year, he looked quicker in midnight madness.

But I still think his decision making and b-ball IQ will always be a problem for him, I hope I’m wrong

Probably not a great thing that the suspected starting lineup does not include Diarra. I was hoping it would.

He’s got a lot to offer but maybe it’s not coming together fast enough

I think Diarra will get there, but it might be another year or two. Diarra just hasn't played much organized basketball and there is no fix for that besides time. I'm guessing changing systems will set him back a little as well.

I haven't seen anything official about starting lineups and I think we need Diarra to be a starter. I don't see Vogt or Sorolla as starting material - maybe one of them can prove me wrong - and I still don't think we have enough tough athletic guards to play small (at least not until Moore and maybe Davenport get healthy). Not to mention that I don't think Scott is big enough to play a lot of minutes at center.

I really think Diarra is the key to our success this season. It's probably worth giving him minutes and letting him learn through playing. It may be ugly at first, but hopefully he will figure it out by tournament time.

how many do you think you need, 8?

back in the only year we played small how many did we have? 4?

Agreed. We are fine at guard/wing. That is our strength in both starters and bench quality. Bigs are the question and specifically the 5 or the second big after Scott.

We won't go 35 minutes for anyone because of the pace so I don't expect a repeat of 2012. We will use Williams, JC2, Harvey, Moore, etc. Maybe even Davenport or Woods.

It's interesting in the latest presser that McNeal was the face of the bearcat players. I would have thought Scott would be there most of the time this year with a sub now and then. Jarron and Keith don't like to talk. Maybe Scott had something to do and McNeal filled in but the initial signs are leading towards McNeal starting. He's been heralded as a workaholic and a vocal leader and being impressive in practices so far. He's a smart dude and I like that with our PG.

Personally I am glad to hear it. If either Keith or Jaevin are pushed out of the starting lineup we have to be in pretty good shape. I would rather not see us HAVE to play a 2nd big and put either of these other two guys in the starting lineup but I don't expect that against OSU. After that maybe.

if either are pushed out i think its more likely to be keith. he struggled the 2nd half of last year and seems a strange fit for a system that wants high ball skill guards that can shoot.

i think one reason KW struggles vs the better competition is he just doesn't have the handles.

McNeal is probably the best interviewer on the podium since Kyle Washington and Kevin johnson, he handles it extremely well.

This would be a very tough call. I don't think Jaevin has great handles either but he can shoot and that's a big plus. Keith seems to fit the press and break style better and will probably get in the lane a little more than JC2.

It may just come down to who has a better handle on the new system and from what Nelson was saying it's Cumberland so far. So you may be right in the end about Williams

Kyle was the man in pressers. He reminds me a lot of Terry Nelson actually. He could have a career in broadcasting someday. Has a lot of quips and one liners and nicknames etc and smart as a whip.

Ive heard from former bearcats Mcneal has been probably been most impressive in practices. I think he's go surprise alot of fans this year and lead us far in tourny. He has the will to succeed we haven't had seen since logan from a PG.

KJ is on commentary tonight doing the play by play with Dan Hoard... Good for Kev I hope he is able to do a couple games this season.
