It's going to be a fun year in the American...lots of good players and good teams.

Hopefully Troy takes that next step and is at the top of the list at the end of the season.

So I'm 100% confident uc, UConn, and smu will all be ranked in the top 20 for pretty much the whole season. But do you guys see any other AAC teams being ranked? I see could see getting Tulsa getting ranked ...they return everyone from what should have been an ncaa tourney team last year and have great guard play.
I know partner is awful but I think Memphis could surprise some teams this year, and voters always seem to love throwing them some votes. I see the conference getting 5 teams in this year....4 for sure. Teams like Houston will be very improved as well

Thoughts on how many teams we will get in

Bottom line is the conference has to do a better job in the non-conference. Both in scheduling and winning marquee games. If your conference is viewed as weak then winning in the conference isn't looked at with respect. The Houston's and Tulsa's of the conference really need to elevate their program and that starts by playing the big boys and getting some W's.

3 teams will get in. Outside shot for 4 depending on how the OOC season shakes out for Temple, Memphis, Tulsa and Houston.

Agree. I know some have stepped it up, like Tulsa I know has ok st. and Wichita, I think usf has kentucky, I'm pretty sure temple opens against North Carolina. But I'm with you its crucial we all prove ourselves in the ooc for rpi and perception. I really think it will be a strong conference

Temple always schedules tough.

The AAC favorites have plenty of OOC chances to show the country its a solid conference. Key OOC match ups below.

UCONN has Maryland, Ohio State back to back games in December.
Memphis has Oklahoma and Ohio State.
Tulsa has Wichita State (by far the weakest OOC of the contenders)
Temple has UNC, Wisconsin and Villanova
SMU has Michigan and Gonzaga
Cincy of course has Iowa State, VCU and Butler and X

That is a TON of opportunities to beat great teams. The conference can only blame themselves this year if they don't get respect.

Same site ranked tops wings and bigs in AAC. Ellis was #1 and clark #4

If Ellis worked on his footwork this offseason he has a chance to be the best center in the country, he is great defensively, he goaltends a lot but I really don't mind that, Kenyon Martin did too.

Offensively he has great touch, by far the best I've ever seen by a center for uc. Great free throw shooter. His timing on putback dunks is as good as I've seen since Kenyon Martin, maybe Erik hicks but his size gives him the edge over hicks in the put back category.

His emotions are his greatest strengths and weakness's he can't let people get the best of him like the Purdue game.

Not to mention I think deberry is a very solid backup, the center position is probably our best position right now, although I really like Jennifer and think pg could be just as good.

The front court should be very good this year. Hopefully Cobb improves his consistency which will really open it up for the inside players.
