Saw this story on twitter and it made me start thinking...UC has worked hard to establish itself as a respected university academically...the basketball team has had to work hard to overcome their actions in last year's Shootout and they will have to continue to build their image...these stories/rumors about tuberville are not good (true or not)...working in the investment world, I know that high risk can equal high reward...my only concern is, will tuberville's successes outweigh his image/rumored image?

Right now there is nothing bad enough about him to offset where he can take this program.

Here is how things actually happened:

As far as the whole Tuberville skipping out on dinner goes, there was only one recruit who claimed this happened. Other recruits have been talked to that were also at the dinner and said that Tuberville was there while they were eating and told them when he was leaving the restaurant that night. Its really a non story that people have blown up.

The whole Kyle Kempt scenario is also just the Massilon coach being angry for no reason.I followed Kempt on twitter and literally the day after Jones left he tweeted with he decommitted from UC. He said UC was still in the mix but he was going to look elsewhere. Seeing this, TT signed another quarterback to take his place and thats when Massilon coach gets angry then goes off ranting. But he fails to mention that another one of his recruits who committed to Michigan but then decommitted and is now going to OSU. Back when that happened Massilon coach bragged about how he wants to help the students wherever he can and it was okay for that player to decommit. Now Michigans way is that as soon as a player says hes still going on visits they pull the scholarship offer. Pretty much Massilon coach thinks its okay for Michigan to do it and not UC so another story that gets blown up and makes TT look bad just for doing what any other coach would do in the country.

Lastly, the whole Demetrius Monday situation is the one that may actually hurt or may not. You can look at it 2 ways: new coach evaluating current recruits, sees kid not fitting into the mold so he tells him to look elsewhere. Dad said this was the first time they have heard from current coaching staff. If I was a dad where the school that my son committed to just got a new staff I would call right after he was hired to still make sure things are a go. Not wait for a month then get mad because TT said his son wont play much at UC. Sure TT should have notified the kid earlier but it can equally go on the parent instead of getting angry about it.

If people actually knew the real stories these wouldnt be that big of issues. Any coach in America does this but now TT is the bad guy all the sudden.

i agree with you completely...your last sentence is my concern...if the university is trying to attract monies/support from alum and corporations, any negative publicity/gossip is not helpful (in my opinion at least)...

This entire post is an over-reaction. The guy hasn't even coached a game yet. Nobody is going to care about any of this stuff come the start of next football season. Tommy T doesn't have to keep any of Butch's recruits if he doesn't want to. His job is to come in here and evaluate the talent on the current roster. For the first 3 or 4 weeks he was here he didn't even have a staff to assist him so it makes sense that maybe things weren't communicated as much as some of these kids might have liked.

As far as Demetrius Monday is concerned the kid can go hit the bricks. TT clearly didn't think that Monday was talented enough to be part of the class here. He had his eyes on some JUCO players when he was at TTU and got those kids to commit to him here at UC. If Monday is a good player it won't matter if he hasn't talked to any other schools in 6 months, he'll get a chance to play somewhere if other coaches feel like he is talented. If Butch isn't recruiting him at UT that tells you that he isn't as talented or desired as his father would lead you to believe he is. I'm sure TT isn't in the business of giving a kid a scholarship just to be a "nice guy", he's trying to win football games and bring in the most talented kids he can.

This is something that every coach does when they take a new job and something that the nation is not looking at. It's news here because we follow the team but no one else anywhere cares about these situations.

Recruiting can be a cutthroat deal as some Cincy commits are finding out now: http://t.co/ukwgY8DL

Tweeted by Bruce Feldman. Love how UC is the only one who gets talked about with it

National outlets aren't really covering these stories. Mostly just random guys that heard it from someone which is probably not true. Sound familiar? (Conference realignment)

TT is doing anything the Dantonio didn't do but twitter wasn't around then and TT is getting dragged under the bus for no reason. This happens in every coaching change.

As far as Monday goes he might be the best CB in GA but he's 5'9 160. Pass.

TT will bring in recruits we have never had at UC. We already have a few 4 start players coming in. TT is doing everything right in evaluating Lyle recruits. Some of them TT doesn't want, nothing wrong with that. I am glad TT isn't settling average Lyle recruits. The only reason TT appears to be taking heat is because:
1. TT isn't allowed to comment on any future recruit til they sign
2. Of course a recruit says they "de-committ " while most times that really means UC dropped them but of course the recruit isn't going to admit that.
3. Social media has created a huge biased untrue statements and TT isn't and doesn't have to justify himself to anyone.

TT will help UC more than we know, he will get kids in here that we have always wanted. Boom!

The reason TT is a target is because:

1) people are bitter....like those here that all of a sudden started call CBJ "Lyle"
2) nationally, people are struggling with the idea that TT left the Big 12 for UC in the Big East and a crumbling one at that
3) TT and UC is seen as more of a threat now.

All in all this not a big deal in my opinion and in fact could be seen as where this coaching staff could take UC.

I think good things will come the program's way, I like who he's bringing in and if he can take an already stacked team and crumple this conference next year, in what will be the last chance we have at a BCS ticket in this conference; we're not going to care.
