There has been no WR coach named yet.
Word is that once NSD is complete, a new coach will be announced. Is this part of a package deal for a recruit (HS coach), or simply that the prospect in question wanted to wait until signing day so as not to disrupt his current's school situation?

T.J. Weist has just been hired to become the UC Wide Receivers Coach. So much for the theory about after NSD.

A graduate from Alabama, he's been an asst at W. KY for 8 years.

Glad we have a complete coaching staff. I'm trying to collect some information on the specific recruiting duties of each person.
I know we rely heavily on Cincinnati, and a supposed 100 mile radius around it, but UC needs to go south and find athletes to compete with Pitt, WV, and USF especially.

Matt McCarthy new Grad Assistant

BIG RAPIDS - Butch Jones, the head football coach at the University of Cincinnati, is bringing a little of Ferris State University with him to southern Ohio.

Jones, a 1990 graduate of Ferris, has some strong roots at his alma mater. When Jones returned to Big Rapids, and served as offensive coordinator in the mid to late 1990s, he had the chance to coach All-American quarterback Matt McCarthy, the now former offensive coordinator at Ferris. Jones indicated, on his visit, that he is bringing McCarthy onto his staff to serve as a graduate assistant coach on the staff of the Bearcats.

It's great to see Matt McCarthy bounce back and get a fresh new chance to coach on a major Division I staff under Jones.

"Matt McCarthy is with me now," said Jones, who returned to Ferris on Tuesday to speak to students in the College of Business. "I owed it to him. This is a young man who put it on the line for me when I coached (at Ferris). So, you know what?
Now, it's my obligation."

Jones, who is constantly working the phones, spoke of the large number of former players who have stayed in contact with him (including players he coached at Ferris and guys he coached at nearbyCentral Michigan University).

McCarthy and Jones go way back to the late 1990s (including the 1996 Ferris State team that McCarthy quarterbacked for Jones that won a fifth straight conference title and advanced to the NCAA playoffs). Jones still remembers vividly when McCarthy severely injured his knee in the first game of the 1997 season and was lost for the entire campaign. McCarthy had completed 8-of-10 passes for 84 yards before he was knocked out of the game (his season was finished).

Jones remembered McCarthy's sacrifice for him and saw an opportunity to return a favor, but also to help nurture a guy he believes is a good coach.
