Already starting to head in the right direction. A win against Iowa State and UNLV this weekend and I think we would get a top 15 ranking.

Meh. I'm in no hurry.

I'm more interested in the rpi and our overall record for Bid Dance seeding purposes.

Rankings get your highlights on ESPN so they are important. Usually wrong but important. But what I care about right now is seeing improvement.

This team is better than their ranking. They will surprise the voters this season. They are deep, athletic, and have very good guard play. This season will be Mick's best...

One last tune up tonight and then its time to get down to business this weekend in Sin City. Can make some real noise out there. I know we say all the time rankings dont matter and to an extent that is true. But when recruits like Jermaine Lawrence are considering the Cats against other schools the higher the ranking, the better the chance of landing them. Perception matters in recruiting. The national perception still is obviously that we are not a top program. We are vastly underrated (Again). I want to finally get over that hurdle and get the respect this team deserves. Doing well this weekend will take a big step in that direction.....

College Basketball is dead! TV has killed it off. College sports is now all about football, football, and more football on your cable sports channel.

Ralph, not trying to start another urination contest but I disagree that the realignment is ALL about fball. Did the ACC get Pitt and Cuse for their fball programs? Because they have been to so many BCS bowls recently? Did Maryland and Rutgers go to the B1G because of their great Fball records in the past years or their facilities? No, it is all about tv markets at this time. Conferences are worried about how many viewers it can attract in a specefic market and how big their conference footprint can be. Rutgers has done virtually nothing in fb or bb in the past decade, but the NY/NJ viewing area is worth more to them. Now the BTN will have to be aired in those areas. There are also grads from OSU and Michigan that will watch games in NY/NJ and Maryland/DC. Sure the Fball programs are driving the bus and the hire of the head fball coach is the most important hire a university can make but it is more about tv markets than anything else.

This was all started by the BCS announcing that the top 4 conferences would have the greatest chance to get $$$ in bowl games. The remaining conferences are to fight it out for the top remaining spot. If you think about it, being in the BEast right now, we have a better shot at a BCS game than teams like UK, IU, Northwestern, WVU, Rutgers, Maryland under the new system. They take the highest ranking left over team and over the past 6 years UC would have gone to at least 2 BCS games under new format. So that begs the question. Are we better off being a middle of road team w/ no chance at BCS in B12/B1G (we can compete in ACC) or are we better off in some sort of restructured BEast if it indeed can happen? Just don't see BSU/SDSU/UH going to MWC, they would get less money in deal there than w/ Beast. I think B1G and ACC are best fit but B1G will never let us in.

This whole thing is so maddening and I hate it. It has ruined rivalries, but greed knows no boundaries.

Yeah, that's why people care only about Uk, North Carolina, and Duke football, right? Of course it is definitely more about football, but basketball is still a big money maker. Maryland sucks in football and has a pretty good basketball team, and they got invited to B10.

They got invited to the Big 10 for their football TV market. It is all about the $1.00 a month for the BTN for each subscriber on the cable system.
