While this topic spans several sports, I have seen the biggest impact on the gridiron.

I believe the UC program is (and has been for at least two decades) making men of boys. From the physical B-Ball players of early '90s to Connor Barwin and on UC has shown ability to take marginally recruited players and get most out of them.

High school kids can lift an impressive amount of weight (bench or squating) but they lack agility, speed, stamina, and overall athletic strength. I am just underwhelmed with many high school strength and conditioning programs. The kids end up getting hurt, stunting growth, and not getting the results they, the parents, or their coaches intended. I have heard similar horror stories from Mason, Milford, Loveland, Kings, etc.. in NE area.

I just wish more of these "programs" would focus on some of the old school techniques (plyometrics, jump training, and using body weight). We need athletes, not Brian Bosworths.

What is the state of the current strength program? Were there changes when Kelly went to Notre Shame _ I heard he took the trainers with him because he was unimpressed with what he saw when he arrived.

I started this message regarding comments on '11 RB recruit David Fulcher Jr, maybe he flourishes at UC - maybe not.

Any insight or discussion would be appreciated!

Huggins used to give a lot of credit of his teams' conditioning to this guy:

And I think you saw a decline in that area a bit after he left in '98.

Kelly brought this guy from Central Michigan and took him with him to ND:

Jones brought this guy with him from CMU:

Don't know much about any of them, but I suspect Marotti is the best of the bunch.

The football and basketball programs use different strength and conditioning coaches... that may have not been the case while Huggins was here but it is now.

Dave Andrews is the basketball team's strength and conditioning coach and if I'm reading his bio correctly on Gobearcats.com he is in charge of strength and conditioning for every varsity sport save Football... that's actually pretty interesting to me.

Curtis Bostic handles the Olympic sports S+C. It was my understanding he was the head man in that regard but maybe he works under Dave.
