I'm excited about the game today. Should be a good battle. Crowd will be VT heavy. Just hope gunner is healthy and can get the deep ball going and our running game plays like it has been. VT is turnover prone according to mo so hopefully the defense can be opportunistic.

Blinked again and saw a really, really, quick 3 and out. Guess they miss Cincy

Thought I'd pop in and remind you that UC is about to get blown out again under Tuberville. This guy is such a clown. Blown out by 4-8 Illinois, blown out by Memphis at home, blown out by 6-6 Miami (FL), blown out by 6-6 North Carolina, about to get blown out by a very mediocre 6-6 Virginia Tech.

HAHAHAHA enjoying UC football??? What a joke of a program on the big stage yet again!!!

Histrionics aside, I agree it was disappointing to lose to a very middling (although talented) ACC team for the 2nd bowl game in a row. Can be summed up thusly:

1. Wasted 1st half opportunities - up and down the field offensively with little to show for it.
2. They are who we thought they were - defense was honestly not up to par this year, fortunate to have lots of bad teams on the schedule. Against anyone with even average firepower, gashed for huge chunks of yardage on the ground. Defensive line needs a serious upgrade.
3. Questionable coaching - OK, so Kiel gets knocked out of the game, you go straight to Colisimo...right? They wasted the entire 3rd quarter going with wildcat formations that were easy to attack. If you're going to play Shaq, let him throw it more than once. If you're going with Colisimo, put him in right away. Horrible personnel management. And I won't even talk about the onside kick, down 13 with an entire quarter of football to be played.

Hard to be disappointed with 9-4 and that game today was not a 2 touchdown difference if you watched but it would be nice to get back to some winning ways come bowl time. Tough way to end for the guys that fought hard all year.

Bearcats defense was the most pumped up squad on the field for the first 10 minutes.Just a bad game.Real bad.

Well said.

Guess you are proving the post where you said UC fans are miserable.

And this coming from a poster that is leaving the board because there are..."Too many people that know nothing about basketball."

Not sure what to say or think after the football game. Some observations that others may find entertaining:

-how do we show up with one QB who has a history of not playing second halves of football games and expect to win?

-Officiating is always easy to pick on but a couple questions here. The early ruffing the passer on UC hitting the VT QB. Hardly. Why does UC get a penalty for celebration or unsportsman like conduct (my understanding is when more than two celebrate, the call can be made) when after a VT touchdown, a large group celebrated with no call. Help me out with this one guys. Is it more that two celebrating or did the receiver do something? Why was the hit on Keil overlooked as a helmet leading hit and causing injury? He launched himself into Keil. Why no call? Anyone?? Finally, how did the official (right in front of play), miss the ball being knocked out of the QB hands through the endzone for a touchback? Was it because the holding call happened prior to the ball being fumbled or did the ref just miss the call? Anyone, anyone???. Could we not decline the penalty for holding and insist on a review of the player crossing the goal? Does Tuberville and his staff not care or do we not have anyone in the booth checking? Why did UC not review the call? anyone know why?

-Announcers and refs seemed to put UC in a bad boy, thugg type category with nearly ALL calls going against UC.

-why does this coaching staff seem to make zero to no changes at half and other well coached teams come out all over us???

-why do we not have a 3QB after Munchie? If I would have known we had only Keil going into the game and if I had bought tickets and spent 2K to travel with the team, I would have been ticked off. Keil only finished a handful of games this year. In most cases (3-4 games) he was knocked out at halftime. I know the original back up was suspended, but nothing after that? WTF!!

-to watch the team run the ball helplessly into a line with nine defenders, go 3 and out and appear to be a deer in the headlights was the most frustrating part of this game. I had steam coming out of my ears. Tuberville seems to do that to me.

-2nd bowl drubbing by Tuberville. His self proclaimed go it easy attitude at the bowl game is doing NOTHING for the program. Another huge WTF !!!

I am concerned with Kiel's ability to finish games. I am not sure if it is coincidence or a lack of toughness but he definitely has a pattern of only playing in the first half.

I am still not convinced that Tuberville is the right guy for this program.

Looking at the roster, we have a ton of guys returning next year and a decent recruiting class (could be great if we land CeCe).

I am interested to see how our returning players progress in the offseason....especially Kiel's footwork and progressions in the pocket.

I expect big things from this team next year. Tuberville needs to make good on his big talk and have a great year. I will be extremely disappointed with another slow start next year.

When Colosimo was all you had left you should at least have given him a chance to win the game. Instead you waste most of the second half with runs up the middle against nine and even ten man fronts. The coaching staff gave up, and that has never happened at UC before in my memory. Today I am proud of the players, but ashamed of the coaches.

I think that you hit on a very valid point. Gunner has started and finished how many games this year? Hoard said that Munchie tweaked his knee a week ago. Therefore the coaching staff had one week to prepare for a plan B if anything happened to Gunner (Which history shows is likely) This is not the first time that Gunner has got hurt and drives were wasted due to defenses stacking the box and UC running wildcat after wildcat. A month of planning and we have no backup plan, no excuse for that.

Glad someone else noticed that too.

Some good post about the game and I agree with what you are all saying. Once Kiel went out it was all downhill from there. Kiel has a lot to improve on this off season. It is a bit surprising to see how soft Kiel has been this maybe. Maybe him being off the field for a few years has made him that way. But it surprises me because he seems to have a good build to him. I thought our defense played really the first half but they were gassed in the 2nd since our offense wasn't helping them. We also left a lot of points on the field in that first half.

Overall, I was pleased to see UC improve over the course of the year on defense. Certainly our schedule helped us getting better but those are things we can't control. I hope we continue to see improvement and can't wait to be back at Nippert.
