what happens if UC wins its final two games, West Va loses to Rutgers next week, and UConn beats South Florida next week. UC, Pitt, UConn, and West Va would be 4-3 in league play. Which team would go?

I believe the team with the highest bcs ranking

That is the way they decide it...but will any of these teams be garnering any BCS votes? None of them would be ranked in the coaches or Harris poll. I guess whoever has the strongest computer rank.

Exactly. The BCS tracks all teams. It wouldn't be pretty, that's for sure. Hopefully WVU takes care of Rutgers next week and finishes 9-3. It would also be nice if Syracuse and South Florida found ways to beat Boston College and Miami today. Would save some face for the Big East for sure.

I don't know, the BCS gives you points in three categories. The Harris Poll, the coaches poll and the average of the 6 computer rankings. You get points based on percentage of votes in the two polls, thus if you have no votes its a zero. The computer ranking average gives points 25-1 based on reverse order of your rank in each poll it uses. If you're not top 25 it's zero. If all teams fail to be in the top 25 in all 6 polls and haven't garnered any votes in either poll then you have a BCS score of zero. All these teams closing out the year with losses won't garner votes from pollsters and I can't imagine our computer ranks look that solid.

The Big East needs West VirGINA to beat Rutgers. At 5-2 and 9-3 they will at least be somewhat respectable to make a BCS boll. I have a hard time believing as bad as Rutgers is they have any chance of going into Morgantown and getting the win, but stranger things have happened.

Not that it matters now, but the BE tiebreaker is still H2H even against the group. In your scenerio, UC was already eliminated from BCS contention because Syracuse was also in the group tie at 4-3.

I'm on board for rooting for WV at this point though.

Yeah we need UConn to lose to South Florida. West VirGINA will look a lot better to the purists representing our conference than the 1-AA UConn team. You know we'll hear the argument that they weren't D-1 until about ten years ago and we all know anything decided in college football has to have mattered fifty years ago.
