Larry Davis goes 5-11 from the 3 pt. line in 2 games and then barely plays agains UConn and USF. He hits 3-6 against Marquette and plays 9 minutes last night. Oh, and he hits 3-4 ft's last night.

Seven minutes before halftime in the USF game, Mick has a line up in that dominates and takes control of the game going into half. They never see the floor together again in the second half.

Yancy Gates doesn't play in the final 12 minutes of a game he is dominating. Cats lose in OT.

17 different line ups, I believe is the last count. This coach has to stop trying to match an opponents strength and start playing the players that are producing and make other teams beat them.

Deonta Vaughn should not be starting. He is a defensive liability and his shot has been off all season. His confidence is so low he can't even make a ft. He has to come off the bench.

Till I see Mick utilize his players in an effective, role oriented way, I just don't have the confidence this team can win consistently or get on a roll.

Cash, Davis, Lance, Thomas, and Gates. Play them and bring Vaughn, Dixon, Bishop, and Toyloy off the bench.

I agree with every point you just made, except that I might like to start Dixon or Bishop over Davis.

Mick is a smart guy, but as you imply, he appears to be over-thinking matchups. If we put the best 5 on the floor we force the opponent to match up to our strengths.

Agreed.

I'd start Davis ahead of DV at this point. One thing I don't get is Parker. He nails some big shots one game, struggles the next, doesn't play until USF (because he did well against them the first time), and then doesn't see action again.
If he's not good enough to play, then why play him the last time?

I agree with having Deonta come off the bench and giving some minutes to Davis.

Larry reminds me of a poor mans Field Williams. Neither really puts the ball on the floor and rarely did/do they go to the free throw line.

I wouldnt have a problem with LD shooting nothing but threes over the summer and come time for the 2010-2011 season just have him camp out behind the three point line much like Field did.

I dont think Parker is getting as much PT because he has a tendency to let his man drive past him.

Parker's defense is bad. You're right. His off ball defense is atrocious and he constantly leaves his man.

I hear that, but my question to Mick was "Why play him at all?".
