Winton Woods coach Troy Everhart joins UC staff

I like this move by Coach Jones. There have been some very good players to come out of Winton Woods and we have already seen the success Kerry Coombs has had. Adding this coach to the staff is a good move.

You would think this would lock Poole. While you're at it, it should lock Daniels since the rest of his family has already verballed here as well. Of course, there are "other factors" at play regarding Daniels.

Poole aside, do you think this addition will help UC get certain athletes we could not get before? Is there other ties to be considered? For instance, Coombs got UC into Indiana. Anything here? Someone else mentioned on another board we should be looking at a Central Ohio or NEO coach for this purpose. Thoughts?

What I want to know is, if this was an addition to the coaching staff, without a subtraction, where did the financing for his position come from?... I suppose it's a good thing Butch can hire someone right now specifically for the purpose of being a recruiting specialist, though I'm sure he'll supplement the staff in other ways as well...

Also, Bearcatreport has an article up on their main page right now stating a Winton Woods player is a virtual lock to verbal to UC if this goes through smoothly... "There is a strong chance I will..." Words directly from the unnamed player...

Do you mean Kelly or do you mean Jones? It could turn into escalation though in a battle for Cincinnati, that's for sure...

Specht go to UC....ha ha ha.

He does everything he can to prevent his players from going here why would he?

Hey... I don't blame Spetch for St. X kids not coming to UC... for as many Colerain alum have been Bearcats, all the best ones for the past two decades have gone elsewhere to play college ball... it just so happens UC picked up some diamond's in the rough in Goodman and Byrd... My point being, for a long while, UC simply wasn't a viable option for blue chip D1 recruits in football... couple that, along with the catholic thing and high profile academic school connection (Stanford, Boston College, Vanderbilt, etc) which UC is battling being an urban campus lacking top level academics and I think people make a lot more of a conspiracy out of the St. X players not coming to UC by word of mouth than is actually true... I think the truth is, in the past, UC just hasn't been a good fit for most St. X prospects... in the coming years you'll see UC get it's share of talent from X with or without Spetch there (or in ND) as a coach...
