The game comes down to the last possession. Would you rather be on offense (down 1) with a chance to win the game or would you rather be playing Defense down 1.

Personally- I would rather be on defense and force the other team to have to score. More then likely you see awful shots anyways...only thing that concerns me is if the team drives in attempt to get a foul- can be tough to stop that

It depends on who UC is playing and how the game has played out. If you are playing a good defensive team like WVU, UCONN, or that damn Syracuse zone then I would rather be on defense. If you are playing Depaul, St. Johns, Rutgers or Providence (especially Providence) then I want the ball. I guess the other part of it is who is taking the shot. Last year, Lance was pretty good taking the ball to the hole at the end of games. If SK is like that as well, I would feel good about having the last shot.

I'd rather be on defense. All the pressure is on the other team, as they have to produce. All UC has to do is play solid D and not foul (although not necessarily a given). It's no contest baby!! (in my best dickie v).

I'm assuming you mean being on defense UP one? If so, why would anyone prefer to be losing than winning? I would always prefer to have the lead.

I'd rather be on D. Simply because you already have the lead. But hitting a game winning shot is much nicer than hanging on for a win. Part of it might depend too on how much time is on the clock. If you take the lead with under 10 seconds I like my chances of stopping them from getting a clean shot (as long as we're not playing McNamara). On the other hand I like my chances as well if you get the ball with 25-30 seconds left. I definately don't like having to play shutdown D for 30 seconds in that situation.

I'd rather be on defense. Odds are that you're going to be on the winning team.........that's probably why TheGreatOne goes for the personal glory rather than the "logically" and "statistically" better answer.

:)

Nope. When the game is on the line I want the ball. Just like Kobe or MJ. The odds will be in their favor. You have got to have someone who is clutch. For UC though I would rather be up 1.

Nitpicking here, but if I am down one I would rather have the ball with a chance to win, than them have the ball and us have to foul to get it back.

My guess is you meant to say be UP by 1 and play defense?

Would you rather pay your own way to be a student of UC or get a full ride from Pitt?

I guarantee you Kobe and MJ would rather be winning with the game on the line.

Wow that is a tough question. Are we talking 1989 tuition prices, a would rather have in the past or if you were a high school senior today type of question?

For me, if I had that choice back then, I would still choose UC (having never even visited the Pitt campus or having any knowledge of their programs).

If I were a senior today, I just might take that full ride at Pitt. I love the UC campus, people, and cheering on my Bearcats, but having no debt (or significantly less) upon graduation would be the way to go.

I was faced with something similar but it was UC and OSU. I told my parents that I would never go to OSU but their response was to wait until any scholarships came in. The agreement was that I would have to go to OSU if I got a full ride there and no where else. I have never rooted harder against getting a full ride. I ended up getting the same amount of scholarships from UC and OSU so it was a no brainer.

That's a tough call that many recruits face. They have a home team, but may not get an offer, or a 'better' school comes calling and need to determine what's best for them.
