Well, everyone saw this coming (everyone but ralph) and now it is official.

WV leaves Big East and I saw reports it will be as early as July 2012 (in other words- they wont honor the 27 month thing, which is a bit ridiculous anyways).

I wonder if Ralph will admit he was wrong on this one.

I understand UC wants to be the Beast of the East, but they need to start marketing themselves to these power conferences or they will continue to be the stepping stone to Big Time college football.

Dantonio came in here, proved himself and left. Brian Kelly came in here, proved himself and left. Butch Jones has done a nice job this year and his future could be affected by one of these power conferences offering him a HC positon

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If the Big 12 expands again (which it probably will) they will likely go to 12 with an outside chance at 14. UC would definitely be considered for one of the two or four spots. UC may not want to or have to move if the new Big East keeps it's AQ status.

Also expect WVU to be held to the 27 month thing unless Boise, AF, Houston, etc all come on board immediately for next year. If that happens, expect the buyout to go up to $21 milion (the same number Boise has to pay if they leave their conference right now). This is far from settled right now though.

If they can get Boise, Houston and maybe a Memphis that would be big. But it seems like the Big East is going after teams to fill spots. AF, Navy and Temple would not bring much to the table.

Once again (as always) the RNN (Ralph News Network) from the day Pitt and Syracuse announced they were leaving the Big East, the RNN was on top of things, informing readers that UC was totally committed to the Big East, that UC had no interest, and will continue to have no interest, in joining the Big 12.

The RNN, your most accurate source, for all things UC.

The events of today and this week does nothing to validate your claim. Apples to oranges. I expect nothing less from you though.

And at one point you claimed UC, UL, and WVU all had no interest. Whoops!

They are always looking for a new conference, but at this time they are being told The Big East will keep a BCS Bid. Therefor do not have a reason to leave the conference and will have a good shot of reaching BCS bowls if this remains true in the future

Well said and right on the money. If UC feels the Big East will not retain it's AQ status, they will be looking to jump ship too.

Who is "they"?

UC Athletic Department.

And Jason, I just hope the conference doesnt become so diluted it forces coaches to try new challenges and players to go elsewhere

That is the big concern. If the conference keeps the AQ status, that shouldn't happen. If it doesn't, then we are looking at a CUSA all over again. Basketball will be fine even without Syracuse, Pitt, and WVU. There are plenty of strong programs in the league still and if the Big East adds Memphis like Pitino wants, they would easily replace one of the three lost.

"UC , U of L, and WVU will reject any and all invitations to join the Big 12"

"Louisville has rejected the Big 12 as have UC and WVU."

looks pretty dead on, Ralph. WV was as committed to the Big East as you said they were...

I know it is tough on you guys knowing that the RNN is always correct.

I am predicting Huggins leaves WVU before he has to coach a game at K-State.

It takes a man to admit he was wrong...All this time I at least respected your opinion (though, disagreed with most of them). When you fail to admit you were wrong...childish. Making you look like a fool isn't worth it when you become a coward.

Dont hold your breath, Ralphy once claimed John Riek would bring a national championship to UC.

The Big East has always had the best lawyers. If the Big East loses its auto bid I would expect a HUUUGE lawsuit against the BCS and ESPN.

BCS imparticular. They have no set guidelines on how you lose AQ status if there is not another conference that could replace you. Add that the only reason the Big East would lose its AQ is because the other BCS members have taken from the Big East.

I think you will see a push to add teams next year and the Big East will waive the 27 month rule in return those conferences promise to keep the Big East as a AQ.
