Not sad to see WVU leave. I wonder if Boise just plays WVU schedule. That means Cincy would go to Boise.

I'm hearing Boise will not be out of the MWC by this coming season

Rutgers will play Syracuse twice next year in football for some reason.

WVU leaving early is bad news. This gives hope to Syracuse and Pitt leaving earlier than expected and also tells UL(Big 12 target), UConn, and Rutgers(ACC targets) that they can leave early too

So what happens if/when those 3 schools leave?

I think there is a lot of internet talk being taken at face value here.

I don't think anyone has any idea if Boise's an option yet.
I think Rutgers/Cuse was thrown out as a last resort option someone ran with.
I don't think anyone has a clue whether UL, UC, UConn, Rutgers, ND, or anyone else will be changing conferences soon. I suspect if anything happens, it will be UL leaving, but I don't know anything either.

Big East would not have reached deal with WVU if they didnt have replacement ready.

Boise has already reached out and confirmed they could move all other sports to WAC next year. Buy out is 5 million -- WVU settlement will pay for Boise buyout.

Pitt and Cuse will be gone after next year but that is a non factor because Houston, Memphis, UCF, SMu will be added then.

Rugters is not an ACC target.
Neither is Uconn.

U of L will be next to leave IMO. Which is fine. Big 12 will target U of L and BYU. If BYU cant reach any deal they will like go after UC.

I would be surprised if Big XII could lure FSU and Clemson like some are suggesting but that may open the door to UC getting into the ACC which would be the ultimate goal.

To me our choices would be:

ACC
Big East
Big 12

With the BCS essentially going away in a couple years, there is no need for UC to look to switch conferences. The only way it makes sense is if the money is significantly better. I have a feeling NBC Sports Network may make a big bid for the Big East sports and with schools in markets like New York, Chicago, Orlando, Dallas, Houston, Cincinnati, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia among others, I have to believe the league is going to get a pretty penny. Based on that assumption, there is no need for UC to leave a league that they can compete for a Championship every year in football and still compete in one of the best basketball leagues as well.

This WVU deal might have opened the floodgates. Better keep an eye on UL, UConn and Rutgers. Jason is absolutely right about the BCS and switching conferences in my opinion

As Jason said earlier, BYU is the key. If they agree to the Big 12, UL is gone

No Big 12 sked today. Is Louisville trying to come up with $20 mill?

BigTime Sports Media @GSwaim

@JustinSchille When this #WVU thing is completed and schedule released, talks with #BYU and #CardNation will intensify.

Louisville Trends @Louisvilletrends

Big 12 is now trending in Louisville

The latest rumor is that the reports about $20 Million buyout in which WVU pays $11 Million and rest of Big 12 pays $9 Million are inaccurate. I believe the delay in the release of the schedule is based on waiting for the I's to be dotted and T's to be crossed. I believe there is an agreement in principal IF Boise agrees to come next year. I think all parties are waiting on Boise to come and once that is confirmed you will see WVU gone the same day. I don't think Louisville is going anywhere yet. While they could afford a $20 Million buyout, BYU isn't close to giving up their independence any time soon. I don't think the delay has anything to do with Louisville at this time. My opinion though.

I went to Boise for the 1997 Humanitarian Bowl. UC beat Utah State, UC's first bowl game in 47 years. Good trip but cold.

No surprise but West Virginia has just made it official. They are in the Big 12

kbohls @kbohls

Big 12 loans West Virginia $10M to pay $20M Big East exit fees; high B12 source: UWV to repay $5M in annual $1M sums, be forgiven final $5M.
