3. Cronin has gotten feisty at times with officials this season. But one referee he doesn't dispute is Cincinnati native Mike Mathis, the former NBA official. Cronin has called the long-time family friend "Uncle Mike."

8. Cronin had a meteoric rise in college coaching because of his ability to recruit. As a result, he was also recruited. In spring 1999, when Cronin was an assistant coach at UC, then-Georgia Tech coach Bobby Cremins offered the 27-year-old Cronin a six-figure salary to join the Yellow Jackets' coaching staff. (He declined.)
9. Cronin is one of two coaches in Murray State history to have spent exactly three seasons at the school. The other is Mark Gottfried, nephew of former UC football coach Mike Gottfried.
10. Among several college recruiters sitting in a New York City gym to watch McDonald's All-American guard Kenny Satterfield in March 1999, Cronin was the only college coach to sit in the student section. Cronin ended up convincing Satterfield to sign with UC.
