PG from Kentucky Mick and Co. are showing interest in:

Scouting Info :

"Another young point guard that was very impressive was class of 2011 Anthony Hickey (Marshall County Hoopfest). He pushes the ball and plays with a great pace. He advances the ball with sharp passes on the break and scores with a nice mid range pull up and floater."

and:

•If you are talking about the best guard in the state of Kentucky, Christian County senior-to-be Anthony Hickey has to be in the conversation. He's playing for the Nashville Celtics and led the team in a big win on Friday night. Hickey is as quick as any guard you will see and has a non-stop motor. I really like watching him play and so do others. Western Kentucky has offered. He said Oklahoma State is close to offering and noted he's heard recently from several others, including Cincinnati. A mid range shot is great to have. Quick guards can get open for those, but I'd like to see some 3 point range as well.

Has a non-stop motor. Did you catch that? Mick's trying to change the dynamic of the team.

Had to laugh at that one. I'm guessing he doesn't shoot 88 percent. Tell me I'm wrong.

I'll look deeper, but I know just prior to the state tournament he was shooting 59% from the field and 44% from 3. The highest ft percentage on his team was 77% and it wasn't him :)

Quick blurb from The Real Deal In The Rock Tournament in Little Rock, Arkansas:

"Another day and another solid game for Christian County guard Anthony Hickey with the Nashville Celtics 17s. The Celtics have a very nice team and Hickey gives them a speedy dimension that fits well. He will get a ton of college attention this summer."

Hickey's coach (Kerry Stovall) sent me these stats:

Anthony Hickey 16pts 43% 3pt 55%FG 60%FT 5 assists 5 rebs 5 steals

I like all of that except the FT shooting. He seems like a good shooter though so he should be able to improve on the FT shooting. Might be a concentration thing.

Christian County High School guard Anthony Hickey is considered one of the top seniors in the state of Kentucky for the coming season.

Hickey already had an offer from Western Kentucky and in recent weeks has added offers from David Lipscomb and Murray State. He said he has also been hearing from Cincinnati and Oklahoma State.

Christian County coach Kerry Stovall said the past few weeks have been "crazy" in regards to the recruiting process of Kentucky Mr. Basketball Anthony Hickey.

The 5-foot-11 Hickey was named Sweet 16 MVP and his stock rose.

"I’m just going to take my time," Hickey said. "It’s been a lot of schools and a lot of calls. I’ll narrow it down after spring break and go from there."

Hickey has offers from Western Kentucky, Mississippi State, Nebraska, LSU, TCU, Cincinnati and a bunch of mid-major schools. West Virginia, Purdue, Butler, South Carolina and St. Bonaventure have also been calling a lot.

"It’s not a fluke," Stovall said.

Very interesting development... this begs the question even if we don't enjoy asking it- who's leaving?

If Cronin has indeed offered a scholarship it sounds as though someone on the current roster is gone... the talk has surrounded JaQuan.

A scholarship could have been offered earlier and may no longer be a valid offer. I don't have any insight but usually if a scholarship gets pulled, you never hear about it unless there is some off the court issue with the kid.

talk on boards or talk inside the program?

Possibly but this is the first article I've seen with a mention of an offer from Cincinnati and it's dated Tuesday, March 29, 2011... Demling is usually pretty accurate too.

I have found it interesting that the staff continues to look at point guards. With Cash's health issues I can get the unease and the desire to build depth for the future. Remember, there is always the possibility that a player has academic questions and may not qualify. So in effect you're recruiting them for the next season. I'm not aware of Hickey's academic standing but I know there are questions about other 2011 pg's mentioned. Also, someone could be leaving but until you hear something official you just don't know.

Personally, I know Mick and company are very focused on bringing another big man on board and recruiting into the future. There are rumors and talk among some that they want to sign two juco bigs. Again, that is rumor and talk.

The fact in all the talk is that they have one scholly opened at this point and that one scholly will go to an inside player. Hopefully with the initials GG. Until another scholarship opens the rest is just future posturing and speculation.

I doubt he really has an offer. UC isn't taking another guard in 2011, however, I thought I've heard where he may reclass to 2012. Even then I don't see them taking another guard unless it's an elite one.
