He ran a 10.68 in NJ State finals to win his group and have the #1 overall time just edging out 2011 ND offer Miles Shuler who ran a 10.73

Damiere Byrd (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) said he's trying to narrow the list of schools he's interested in attending to seven, and he's more than halfway there.

"Florida, South Carolina, West Virginia and Cincinnati -- those are definite," Byrd said. "I still have to figure out the other three.

"It's just to make it a little more manageable for me, and if a team isn't in the running for me I'd rather tell them now. I'll probably meet with my coach (Robert Hinson) to figure things out this week."

Damiere Byrd is one of the faster wide receiver prospects in the country. Although he checks in at 5-foot-8, and only 156-pounds, Byrd plays bigger than he looks. The New Jersey prospect has offers from across the country, and recently narrowed that list down to seven. "I put it down to seven, maybe a week or two ago. It's Florida, Iowa, Cincinnati, Rutgers, Pitt, South Carolina, and West Virginia," Byrd said.
Byrd has seen his stock rise for some time now, and it all seemed to come together once he got an offer from Florida. Damiere hasn't decided when he would like to make his final decision, but said things will probably stay the same for awhile. "This list will probably stay the same for the rest of the summer. I don't really know when I'll narrow it down again, but these schools will be there for awhile," he told U Recruit.
Once the season starts, Byrd will be able to take his five official visits. With a short list of seven, there's two that will be left out. So, how does he plan on deciding who gets the official visits? "I'll take the five visits to wherever I haven't seen yet. I haven't gone to West Virginia, Cincinnati, Iowa, or Pitt yet," said Byrd. Those four schools will have a good chance at landing an official visit from the wide receiver. We'll find out if they make the cut once the season starts.

Okay I know I gave you guys a little crap in jest about the Michigan OL being in the recruiting archives... why is Byrd there when UC has been named as part of his top seven? ...and a scout article from July 14th claims he is looking to take a visit here...

The thought process is that he isn't likely to be a Bearcat. He only said he was taking visits to places he hadn't been yet. If he was really high on UC, he would have more than likely visited already. If, once he visits, it looks like UC is a player, we can always move him back. It is a fluid thing, just like recruiting. Just because a kid is in the archives doesn't mean he has zero interest in UC or has committed elsewhere. It just means it is very much unlikely that he will be in a UC uniform. I still think UC is a long shot at best to land Byrd. If swg feels differently and wants to move him back, I am ok with that too.

I understand and I really am just giving you crap... you guys have done a fabulous job with the recruiting section... :)

I'll believe it when I see it. However, I did think about moving him back, but I couldn't bring myself to admit I was wrong. Just look a woman, huh? :D

Thanks! I know you were just giving us crap but the question was legit and I am sure other people have thought the same thing. Things have seemed to slow down a bit lately but hopefully come late July/Early August, we will have some more Bearcats to welcome. I think we could be looking at a few more signings before the season starts.
