Cal is the latest program to offer one of the fastest prospects on the East Coast for the 2011 recruiting class- Miles Shuler (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch).

Shuler also holds offers from Oklahoma (his childhood favorite), Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Louisville, Stanford, Rutgers, Connecticut and a host of other programs.

Shuler plays quarterback for his high school team, but projects as a receiver. I had the chance to see him work out at that position at the State College Nike Football Training Camp and he was impressive. He has good hands, runs good routes and shows a good understanding of the passing game, obviously from his time spent running the show at quarterback.

Whatever school lands Shuler will be getting an outstanding prospect. I think the Sooners are going to be a factor, but he's pretty much wide open at this point.

Penn State and Iowa offer ath/wr Miles Shuler from Jersey today. #Hawkeyes about 3 hours ago via TinyTwitter

Shuler has recently added offers from State Penn, Louisville, Purdue and Wisconsin, which brings his total offer count to 24. OU is recruting him for CB, Cincinnati for RB and all others for WR. Shuler plans to start trimming his list at the end of the month. He named ND, OU, Cincinnati, Rutgers and Pitt as probably making the first cut.

As he did all spring, Shuler took control of the race at the halfway point and outleaned Timber Creek's Damiere Byrd, arguably the prerace favorite and owner of a 10.57 entering the day, for the win in 10.39 seconds.

That's the second fastest time in New Jersey history according to the article.

Penn St, Rutgers, ND.

This kid has serious speed. I'm bummed he didn't seriously consider UC.
