Offered by Louisville per Mike Dyer's twitter. I'd forgotten all about this kid and haven't heard anything regarding him in a while.

Is this kid a tackle at BCS level? 6'5 245. Looks like with his frame he could bulk up a bit, but a 235 max on the bench?? I did 10 reps of that when I was in high school and I was 190 pounds.

When was the last time an Ave played football at UC?

Uh....I don't think you're the only one. :D

I have just about every recruits name ingrained in my head that's of interest to UC, but this one. I passed right past his info today. Thanx for the backup kind sir.

Strength can be improved with a good S.C. Size and his frame are the basics, and good footwork and agility are more important than lift numbers at this stage.

If his bench press max is only 235 lbs. then I would say that is a bit concerning. The guy would obviously need some time developing in the weight room before he's ready to play at the BCS level. He looks like he has a good frame, though, to be a left tackle assuming he can move well. The fact that the kid has 4 BCS offers also would indicate that we aren't the only ones who think this kid can play. I remember reading on another board a while back about some people who had watched him in person and thought he'd be a steal in this class.

BCS offers are no longer a measuring stick for UC. We have played at a championship level and just because Minnesota, Louisville or BC offers doesnt mean we have to.

We should be more selective. It is about getting the elite players.

While I don't necessarily disagree with your thinking, I was using it more to show that this kid has caught the attention of other teams besides us. And as much as I want UC to recruit at the elite level, I think we're a little ways off from that. A lot of the 'elite' level OL that we've offered have either committed to other schools or aren't showing us a ton of serious interest. Sometimes you have to take the best kids available. If Jones offered Murray back in March then he must see something in him that he likes.

The elite OL are not going to come to UC. In fact, until BJ can win some games, few elite athletes will seriously consider the Bearcats. QB and WR are two areas that UC can compete in, but the other positions are going to require much effort.

Seems like he has a frame to build into. Hopefully he works hard in the weight room. I imagine he might redshirt and build some stength

As we reported earlier, Sycamore junior OT Justin Murray (6-5, 254) has orally committed to UC.

“UC is the perfect fit for Justin,” Dattilo said. “Being a very athletic offensive lineman with great feet, quickness off the ball and the ability to get downfield on screens – he will fit into (UC coach Butch) Jones’ spread offense perfectly.”

Dattilo said UC was the offer Murray was waiting for all winter and spring.

“He was extremely excited when it finally came,” Dattilo said. “He did a great job researching what the other universities had to offer, went on a few unofficial visits to see the campuses and made a very educated decision to attend UC.”
