Shaun is another very athletic player. He's really good when attacking from the wing. Did I say he is very athletic? Going to be very hard to get him away from Florida State. Leonard Hamilton has done an excellent job recruiting him. Ole Miss is making a push as well.

Lists K. State and Florida State as his leaders. Rivals has said he will jump into the revised 150 when released. I believe this kid is a long shot for Cincinnati based on the relationship he has built with Leonard Hamilton.

Is it sustainable? How long til their coach jumps to a more "esteemed" program?

Good question.

I don't have the answer, but he may not have to make a jump if a BCS offer is extended to UCF in the next year or two.

I, for one, would welcome UCF into the BE with open arms.

UCF is a comer. They would be a great addition recruiting wise. We saw how many 'SEC' area kids BJ went after in his first year. Didn't land many, but he laid the foundation.

UCF has come crashing back to earth and is 1-4 in CUSA. They wouldn't be much better than 10-12 in basketball yearly...they do however provide a football program with great potential if they were to join a BCS conference.

I for one would have no issue with adding Central Florida. I also would have no issue dropping two schools with the addition of TCU and UCF. Two football/basketball schools added would be a good thing but I don't want 18 schools.

Oh, here's a link to the verbal:

RT @DaveTelep: Central Florida with the 2012 commitment of standout guard Shawn Smith.

Smith is no longer committed to UCF.

He is one of a handful of 2012 guys UC is going after that are studs- lots of very good options out there right now.

How many ships available for 2012? Only two for now with Yancy and Dion? Three if no one is signed in the late period (which is unlikely)?

Have edited the thread to reflect his change of heart! Many believe he is the best player in the state of Florida.

Jacksonville (Fla.) Arlington Country Day junior Shawn Smith told Scout.com’s Brian Snow that he’s hearing from a bunch of schools, including Louisville. The other school’s he mentioned were South Carolina, Kansas State, Cincinnati, Florida State and West Virginia. He committed to Central Florida but re-opened the process last month.

A 6-foot-4, 186-pounder out of Providence School (FL), Shawn Smith is one of the better 2012 guards in the Southeast region.

Smith, who runs with Florida Rams Blue on the AAU circuit, spoke with InsideTheU while at the ESPN Wide World of Sports for AAU Nationals.

The rising senior combo guard listed offers from Kansas State, West Virginia, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Cincinnati, South Carolina, Missouri, and Central Florida to go along with interest from Texas.

"Not as of now," Smith said of whether he has any favorites. "After my visits maybe."

Yes I believe that would be a fair statement. UC and Florida St. Have been on him for a good while now.

Scout.com South Carolina writer:

My man Shawn Smith (@Ssmiththelegend) tells me he has cut his list to 6. South Carolina, Missouri, Cincinnati, USF, UCF and Florida State.
