The entire Miami Central football team was at the game for a while (they play Elder this weekend). Also I believe some local guys were there as well. If we could create a good relation with Miami Central it would be great!! Even their second tier prospects are legit BCS guys.

Thanks NTS! I agree about Miami Central.

Had a great 3 day visit. I believe UC/Purdue lead. Reports are he could decide anytime between now and after Christmas break.

That's quite a spread. The first signing period is November something right? So he could possibly sign in the spring I guess. When does he visit Purdue? Or has he already? Thanks for all the updates Jeff.

I saw this link on BearcatLair. According to the twitter feed of Kyle Randle, a national recruiting writer, he said that he was personally told by Hammons that he did not want to play in the state of Indiana.

AJ Hammons could be putting up a verbal commitment in the next week or so. 23 Sep via web

@boilerbryce33 Purdue will really have to sell themselves he told me personally, the state of indiana is not where he wants to be

@PURDUE_RANT he told me personally he will play somewhere further east coast...Ohio St, CIncinnati, Georgia Tech or Xavier...well see

He is a big kid. I believe that he is a 7 footer after seeing him walk around the football game. Good project.

I hope we hear that Hammons has commited to us in the near future. As of now we don't have any verbals for next year. It would be nice to have a solid big in the fold.

Dont be surprised if Hammons is a bearcat by the middle of October. Hearing he may delay his announcement a week or so.

He has been all over the place with his commit time. As I said earlier he has even stated he may wait till after Christmas break but before the late signing period. I like UC's chances prior to the early signing date in November.

Dave Telp believes Minnesota, Purdue and Cincinnati are in excellent shape with Hammons, while Eric Bossi of Rivals believes Purdue holds an edge over Minnesota.

With Andrew White appearing unlikely to choose UC, 2012 could be a very disappointing recruiting class if they don't land Hammons. Still lots of time but I'm not sold on the lesser priority recruits.

I would be happy with just getting Hammons and saving the second scholarship for 2013, rather than offering it to one of the lesser priority recruits. If Ellis and Shaq redshirt, they would become part of the 2012 class. The trio of Hammons, Ellis, and Thomas would not be a bad class.

I'm not a huge fan on Hammons but he fits a need. The other scholarship needs to go to best available talent.

But if the best available talent is not BE worthy, or not as good as targets in the 2013 class, why not pocket it for a year.

Indications are he is down to Purdue and Cincinnati. Hearing another school may be getting involved but not sure who it is right now.

Committed to Purdue. Hopefully we can land Obekpa or Mick has someone else up his sleeve.

Wish him luck with the Boilermakers. I didn't see him ever fitting this system or style, a very talented kid around the rim, who has serious issues getting up and down the court.
