I kind of feel bad for the guy for going public with the not so mutual commitment. If a die-hard fan with no insider info, like myself, can read between the lines on your "commitment," it's probably not a good thing.

Hopefully he lands in a good spot. Best of luck big man.

Yeah I kinda feel bad for him too but obviously the staff the staff never told him he was guarenteed a spot. He would frequently tweet something like "I love my school", "Bearcatnation", and even tweeted that he was watching UC game film from last year. Whenever I saw tweets like that I would kinda wince cause I assumed that he would never make it to campus, but you tell how much he wanted to come here.

Mick pulled the offer because of character concerns and also he expects to get a commitment from a significant big within the next two weeks or so.

That's the first I heard about character issues. I did hear he may have grade issues and might have to reclassify to 2013. But then again, A-10 accepts partial qualifyers. So maybe that's the best place for him.

He says he has nothing but love for the coaches, so I'm guessing there isn't too much animosity there.

I have heard nothing but good things about his attitude but who knows, they could be wrong. I think it just came down to UC trying to get in on him early while he was under the radar and he didn't end up having the year they thought he might. UC decided to go in another direction.

This article explains a lot. It doesn't shock me that the coaching staff would back off of him especially with a great shot at landing Hammonds and also with his GPA being so close to the ineligibility range. If you have a shot at a "sure thing" like Hammonds versus someone with as many question marks as Devon Scott, you go with the sure thing in this case every time.

It still amazes me someone can have a 1.97 gpa in high school. Don't care how intelligent you are, to have a 1.97 you just have to be extremely lazy.

Yeah I know. And it isn't like you don't know what you need as a minimum to get into college especially as a student athlete.

Devon Scott was best player on the court last night period, tip-ins, follow-ups, left-shoulder hooks, defeated the box out and changed shots.

Need a big, possible we reach back out?

To be clear on this topic, Devon Scott never had a UC offer, and his commitment when he tried to make it was never taken by Mick. Former assistant George Jackson created a bit of a mess with that one...
