Unsigned super athletic kid that played great in the state tournament. Under the radar but might be worth a look. Mostly A-10 schools have been recruiting him.

I think grades will force him to go the juco route...

He is 100% going Juco.

In addition to big-time recruits making their college decisions, spring is also the time when some seniors have to put off their dream of going to a Division-I school for a year or two and go to a junior college.

Guard Geron Johnson of Dunbar High School (Ohio) will be one of those players.

It will be interesting to see what JC he attends. He'll be a top JUCO recruit if he continues to improve his jumper and works on his grades.

I'd love for UC to make a push on him. Big-time athlete and competitor.

Circumstance hasn't allowed me to follow the prep scene like I have in the past. Just catch glimpses when time allows and hear some whispers. Thanks guys.

Looks like the JC route and back to D1 for him. Heard he's going to Chipola CC but haven't seen an official announcement yet..

Geron Johnson has signed to play basketball at Chipola (Fla.) College. I want to track this kid over the next couple years. Was horrible academically and was in some trouble, but many feel he was the most talented player in Ohio. Ultra athletic and simply a player. His recruitment will be very interesting as time goes on if he does the right things. If he hits the books and keeps his nose clean, he will play high major ball for somebody.

March, 2010: Geron is a super-athletic combo guard. He is very quick and explosive and is very hard to keep out of the lane. He had a great overall performance (2010 Ohio State Championships) in the semifinal win over Cleveland Benedictine (14 points, 8rebounds and 6 assists) and dominated the state final with 24 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists. Geron is a streaky shooter with range beyond 20 feet. He is great at creating for others and finishing in the lane. Johnson is a great passer with fantastic vision and creativity. He is a special talent and one of the countrys best unsigned seniors.

January, 2010: This very talented and skilled combination guard played with great energy and effort and set the tone right from the start against Chicago Whitney Young (Flyin' To The Hoop). Johnson excited the crowd with his above the rim finishes in transition and slashes along the baseline in the half court where he loves to fake the spin move before attacking the rim. He rebounded and went coast-to-coast where he can finish through contact with ease. What makes Johnson special is his ball handling and passing. He has outstanding court vision and can deliver the ball with either hand in the open court or in a tight spot when he draws a second defender. Johnson is fearless and competes on both ends of the floor. He can defend both guard positions with his ability to pressure and ball with great lateral foot speed and quick hands and he also is an excellent anticipator in the passing lanes. Johnson has great basketball instincts period. I think Johnson is more of a shooting guard than a point at this stage of his game because of his ability to score quickly and the comfort of running the lane and attacking from the wing. He must continue to add strength and not take as many chances with the ball but he can dominate a game because of his ability to make plays with the ball in his hands.

April, 2009: This athletic combination guard plays with great pace and energy. Johnson excels in transition by getting to the rim. He is a threat to rebound and go coast to coast. Court vision passing is also strength of Johnson's. He has the ability penetrate, drive, draw and kick and get the ball to teammates where they are in a position to score. Johnson has a tight handle and loves to attack defenders with his inside out and crossover dribble moves to get to the rim. He can knock down the open three and finish at the rim with touch and body control. Johnson is more of a shooting guard now but he has the tools to play the point and be very affective. Great upside.

Geron Johnson took an official visit to Kansas over the weekend and was in the building for the Jayhawks win over Ohio State. Johnson is currently a sophomore at Garden City Community College in Kansas. The Dayton, OH native played his freshman year at Chipola and averaged 10 points and 4 rebounds. Johnson ran into some trouble late in the season off the court and eventually had to transfer out of Chipola.

He has landed on his feet at Garden City and is having a great year to this point. He is averaging 18 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 2.5 steals per game this season. Johnson is shooting the ball at a high percentage: 57% from the field, 40% from three and 81% from the line.

JUCO guard Geron Johnson is visiting Memphis today, according to @MemphisRoar.

Kicked off the team and probably won't qualify. While is ultra talented his past trouble and current ones make me glad he isn't a Bearcat.
