2013 Winston-Salem (NC) SF Greg McClinton will visit Louisville Midnight Madness tonight, Cincinnati on Saturday & Xavier on Sunday.
#58 player on rivals, #32 on ESPN
Offers from Alabama, UCONN, Georgia Tech, Miami (FL), Missouri, NC State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Xavier
Strengths:
McClinton is a long and lanky combo forward that plays with big-time bounce. He is a high level athlete that makes advanced plays in transition. He is surprisingly skilled showing the ability to knock down the 3 or put it on the deck for one or two dribbles for a pull-up jumper. With his length and athleticism he has the ability to cover a lot of ground defensively which enables him to guard multiple positions. He is decent off the dribble getting the ball to the rim as he is being guarded mostly by post players whom he is able to out quick on his drives to the basket. He rebounds his position on both ends.
Weaknesses:
McClinton is a talented athlete that is gifted as a player, but he will need to develop his skills away from the basket to be able to take full advantage of his potential. He needs to improve his consistency from the perimeter. Although he can make a 3-point shot when open, most of his offense is 15' and in. If he continues to grow he could be a difficult match-up on the wing. He needs to develop his body, especially if he grows 2 or 3 inches, to be able to fight in the trenches when rebounding.
Bottom Line: He has developing ball skills and should be a small forward in the future if he does not out grow the position. Although he needs to develop his body and add some weight to his frame he is an impressive prospect that should be on the high major's radar with development in the coming years.
