Cronin was talking about how nrysak or however you spell his name could not play today and how lawrence was out of position because they had to play small but there is no doubt about it tuesday well know alot more

In his post game comments Mick went in on Shaq and Justin Jackson primarily.

"Most disappointed he has been in Jackson in 4 years"

"Shaq over dribbling and having a hard time buying into his role" (you could also just tell by his body language)

Will post my full thoughts on the game tomorrow, probably...

Shaq not buying into his role? Not real shocking after him pouting against Bellermine. Could be a real issue there :-/

Jackson's problems seem to be all in his head. I hope he'll play up to his potential. Kilpatrick has really figured out how to play within himself and become a damn good guard in the process. Sanders... I always felt like he never deserved half the criticism that goes his way. I know, he's not the most athletic kid but he's a solid player who will get better. Rubles staying within himself also, I wish he'd finish strong every time but I'll take 13 points.
Lawrence seems to be a quick study, from the first exhibition to now, he's really improved. Him and Johnson both play solid defense too.
I'd like to see our two centers play next week. Thomas needs to just relax. Guyn is our best option at point. There, I said it. Don't have to be happy about it, but it is, what it is.

I was thinking the exact same thing about Lawrence...he may not have made his shots but he didn't seem lost...excited to watch his growth

Just watched the postgame on gobearcats.com Looks like there's a good possibility that Morman will redshirt according to Mick. Not definitive........yet. Started off with a couple of players, SK and Sanders. Sk is good at these, Sanders very nervous and fidgety. they were followed by Mick who said he had a lot of work to do and is still searching for the right 5 to have on the court.

I said in an earlier thread we would be naive to think there will be a different offense. This is our offense. We need to just execute it better. Every time Jackson was on the bench the ball didn't go inside the perimeter much. I hate to think that our offense will stall every time Jackson is off the floor. Mick's idea of pushing the tempo is to press and create turnovers and a transition offense. We saw some turnovers but only a couple easy, quick baskets resulted. Our offense, other than the few transition plays we will see will be the same style it has always been. Let's accept it and move on. I would be disappointed if Mormon redshirted. I had that same feeling when he didn't get on the court.

Jackson and Shaq disappointed me. We did see that Jackson has improved, but when he got his second foul and pouted about it he never showed back up in the game. Plus he goes for every block. We need him to pick and choose where he is going to go for blocks, especially when he mans up on someone. He takes himself out of position for every rebound down low and that created alot of second chances for the other team. Shaq looks lost out there. I was glad to see Sanders step up and have a nice game. Sanders isn't going to wow anyone, but he put forth 13 points, had some nice rebounds and played solid D. I expect him to start Tuesday night. The freshman looked good for freshman playing their first game. They seem that they will not hurt us when they're on the floor and Lawrence seemed to be an asset on the floor. Being game one they will only get better. Caupain's passes seem lazy. He needs to put some zip on them. Also he seemed to pick up his dribble before he was going to make a pass. That will telegraph the defense into steal mode, especially with the lazy passes. Johnson looked the opposite, his passes were nice and crisp. Lawrence really seems to understand the game of basketball and where to be on the floor. Based on just last night I wouldn't be surprised to see Lawrence taking Shaq's minutes. Again one game. Guyn I think has his hold on the pg spot. He didn't hurt us out there and honestly in this offense you only need to bring the ball up the floor. Once we set up our half court offense, guards are interchangable. He did have a couple nice takes to the basket. Need to finish them or they are pointless. Most impressively he kept his hands up on defense and didn't commit the obvious fouls. That was my biggest concern with him. SK looked really good once he got going. This team needs to work on free throws because we will be shooting alot of them.

GG played solid BB. He's not turning it over, playing solid D, making FT's etc. I see his time increasing a little. Gotta give him credit because I have been one of his biggest critics (perhaps undeserved).

TC looks a little slow to me on D and hasn't really shown me any more than GG on O yet (at least of any significance). He's going to have to get quicker somehow. I see him maxing out at about 10 minutes/game this year.

KJ, other than making his shots (which are not shots he is forcing), has looked really good to me. When he gets those shots to fall he will be a total package. Great quickness on O and D, good dribbling and passing skills, doesn't lack for confidence, he's not just an athlete but a BB player, rebounds well, etc etc etc. I wouldn't have one problem with him and SK on the court with no true PG at times. he's the type of player that can instantly help our stagnant offense because he can get past the first man.

JDIII...his playing time issues must be entirely defensive at this point. He is showing a lot of effort and, even if he's a little slow, is a good BB player. Sees the court well and has great instincts. Much like KJ I wouldn't mind him on the court with SK and no PG at times.

I will be disapointed if we don't get to see Mormom this year. I was excited to see this kid play. I think he's got a lot of the same attributes as Johnson. These are two of the most (if not THE most) athletic guards in Cronin's tenure. Dixon was pretty athletic but wasn't nearly as good with the ball or as quick. Anther player like Johnson who can help our stagnant offense.

SK was SK only a little better SK than last year. He looks great out there and is a great captain for our young team.

JS...he played great last night. If he can give us that type of play every game he will be very useful. 13 pts, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 0 turnovers. Another guy I have to give credit to that I have been critical of. Well done.

ST...was rough to watch but I think he will have a heart to heart talk with Cronin and start playing the way Cronin wants him to. He has no alternative other than riding pine or transferring. I believe he will change his attitude. We need what ST brings to the table.

JL...another guy who can help our offense if he can start to get a few more to fall and I am sure he will. He brings so much to the table as a big man with his BB skills. As long as he gets after the rebounds and defense the sky is the limit. Cronin did a great job with this class of recruiting BB players who are also athletes.

TR...is just a solid all around stat guy, points, rebounds, steals, assists etc. As many have mentioned his biggest problem is just getting those layups to fall when he goes for the basket and it may be too late to fix that.

JJ...wasn't his best effort but he will be fine. He takes things personal, so if Cronin called him out post game, he's the type of guy who will respond to that. Not sure how Thomas will respond. We need JJ on the court 30 minutes...period.

We played solid D and made about 75% FT's. Our stagnant offense is not going to get better with our veteran guys who got the most minutes. JJ, TR, JS, SK, and GG. It's going to get better as we get the following players into the game more...ST, JL, KJ, JDIII, and hopefully DM and JS.
