An impressive all-around player and one that really stood out on Saturday for the still-undefeated We R 1 squad, the 6’6” left-handed wing led his team with 16 points in a win over the New Jersey Roadrunners to advance to the quarterfinals. Hitting spot-up threes, step back jumpers, and slashing to the basket, Richards showed off a pretty complete game on Saturday. He can occasionally get a little bit out of control when trying to forge a path to the hoop but Richards – who said he models his game after James Harden – could potentially be an instant impact player at the next level.
He said the plan for him is to reclassify from the 2012 class to 2013 and that he currently holds offers from Florida Atlantic, Saint Joseph’s, Temple with interest from Cincinnati, Louisville, Virginia Commonwealth, and a number of mid-majors. Richards is still wide open in his recruitment and hopes to make a decision by the end of the summer.
