Checking In with Kindell Kinloch
Alex Schwartz
Special to VUSports.com
Talk about it in 'Nova Nation
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Despite playing in one of the nation's most highly covered hoops cities, class of 2013 power forward Kindell Kinloch is still a relative unknown.
The 6-foot-9, 208-pounder spent the first two years of his high school career at St. Raymond's (NY), but is headed to national powerhouse St. Patrick's (NJ) this fall. The Brooklyn, N.Y. native was in Orlando for the AAU Super Showcase with the NJ Celtics--basically an AAU team of St. Pat's players--and spoke with VUSports.com while there.
Kinloch said he holds offers from Cincinnati and South Florida to go along with interest from Georgia Tech, Rutgers, Villanova, Seton Hall, and more.
"Rutgers, South Florida, Cincinnati, I like all of them basically," Kinloch said of his favorites.
As for his dream schools, Kinloch mentioned Georgetown and Kentucky.
At this point, it is still very early in Villanova's recruitment of Kinloch and he does not have much knowledge about the Wildcats just yet.
"I don't know too much about them," Kinloch said of Villanova. "I just watch them on TV."
Despite the fact that he does not know a great deal about VU right now, Kinloch said he is indeed interested in the Big East program.
"I would go there," the rising junior said. "It's a good [program]."
Kinloch has yet to speak with any coaches from Villanova, but he did say that a Wildcats coach had "been watching . . . three or four games" of his out in Orlando.
"Not personally, but I see some of them and I say [hello]," Kinloch said of whether he knows any current VU players.
Kinloch said that "rebounding and blocking shots" are the strongest points of his game.
As for his main weaknesses on the hardwood, Kinloch remarked, "Footwork and handle."
Asked who he compares his game to, Kinloch replied, "I try to compare it to DeMarcus Cousins a little."
A long and athletic post player, Kindell Kinloch is certainly a player to keep in mind going forward.
