Good in theory but as it stands now, UCLA only has 9 players slated to be on scholarship in '14, including Bluiett. That won't be an issue.

True but they are also in with a lot of recruits and the more you offer the more players you can get then it becomes first come first serve.

Trevon Bluiett is the fifth 2014 prospect from the state of Indiana to decommit. Trey Lyles, Jaquan Lyle, James Blackmon, Bryant McIntosh.

A guy I always wanted. Big time scorer. Butler, IU, and Xavier look to be good bets for where he ends up.

Coach Cox said that Butler and Cincinnati are also going to try to see Bluiett this week. Bluiett is a #247Composite four-star in 2014

The recruiting trail is heating up once again for Trevon Bluiett, a 247Composite four-star shooting guard in the 2014 class. Bluiett decommitted from UCLA last week, wanting to be closer to his home in Indianapolis.

"He's a family-oriented kid," Park Tudor coach Kyle Cox said. "He wants his family to be able to see him play somewhere between 80 and 90 percent of his games."

Cox said Bluiett was "very gracious and appreciative" of all UCLA had done but, "he felt like he was a Midwest guy."

Since his decision, a bunch of Midwest schools have pursued Bluiett. Last Friday, Butler, Purdue and Xavier came to see him at Park Tudor. Butler had the home-field advantage, being less than four miles from the high school, and sent its entire staff.

"That made a good impression on him," Cox said.

Tuesday, Michigan State will come to see Bluiett at an open gym. Cox said that Butler and Cincinnati were hoping to come see him later in the week.

Indiana and Memphis have also called about Bluiett. Cox said that Pittsburgh and Notre Dame have been in contact as well, while he has yet to hear from Michigan. Bluiett had a variety of offers before his commitment to UCLA, including Butler, Purdue, Xavier, Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisville, Michigan, Northwestern, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh.

"It's some of the same suspects, and some new ones, too," Cox said.

What will one of these schools get when Bluiett puts on a jersey next fall? First and foremost, they will get a tremendous shooter.

"He makes all the easy ones, but he also makes a bunch of back-breaker, killer-type shots," Cox said. "Multiple scouts have called him the best pure shooter in the 2014 class."

247Sports Director of Basketball Scouting Jerry Meyer echoed that description.

"Simply put, Bluiett is one of the top shooters in the 2014 class. I expect him to make a ton of three-pointers as a college player," Meyer said. "He has strength and size, and doesn't need much room to get off that soft jumper. He isn't an athletic slasher but he will score off the dribble with the shot-fake."

"Defensively, Bluiett doesn't have the best quickness but he does have strength."

Cox said that beyond being closer to the Indianapolis area, Bluiett is interested in a competitive strength of schedule and non-conference slate. He is also very keen of the academic programs of the prospective schools, according to Cox.

Cox said that Bluiett will explore all of his options over the next few weeks and decide where to take some visits. Cox estimated that it would be about a three or four week process, with Bluiett being prepared to sign on the dotted line during the early signing period in mid-November.

Top 50 2014 guard Trevon Bluiett will officially visit Memphis this weekend, his father tells the CA.

I think Pastner is vastly overrated as an X's and O's guy but man can he recruit.
