You'd be happy with a class of Allen, Moore, and Nsoseme? That just seems so low end to me. I really think we're targetting guys that Cronin could've landed at Murray State.

I would be fairly pleased with a class of Williams, Moore and Nsoseme. But we need to have a backup plan as history would prove.

I'm talking about the 2017 class.
Jake Your making a pretty wild assumption considering they haven't even began their career. How about we see how they perform first? if Memory serves me SK, Kenyon and quite a few others didn't impress the recruiting guru's.

I'm simply commenting on the caliber of recruits we are pursuing in 2017. Not saying they're awful players. I don't know if they are or not. Just seems like based on the schools we're competing with, and the lack of info out there on them, that Cronin could get Murray State on their lists. Heck, Murray State was on the final list for Moore.

I get that. All I'm saying is it doesn't make them bad players or mean we won't be successful with them on the team. Time will tell.

Offers from Iowa state and West Virginia are high major

Time will tell on how they are as players...but as recruits, the time is here. So I don't think it's a wild assumption, considering Murray State was actually on the list of a player we got, and Omaha and DePaul are on the list for this guy.

I think our coaching staff can evaluate talent and find what they are looking for. An internet profile is all we have and some of you guys base WAY too much on that...not much that we can evaluate off of that other than listening to "experts" opinions.

as long as they add to the success of our program I could careless who is recruiting them.

Coach Cronin doesn't have the best track record for producing high-level players. He's never had a 1st round pick, and the only player to get drafted was highly thought of by those "experts".

I worry about your comment that the staff can find what they're looking for...bc I fear what they're looking for are strictly 4 years guys, who will buy in bc it's their best opportunity, and don't mind riding the bench for a while and are closer to being redshirts than first year contributors. Guys who "have a chip on their shoulder" and fit the system of being the slowest team in America that scraps through games in the 50s and 60s. This class seems like we're going further and further down that road. I'm not saying you, but many defend the "diamond in the rough" approach, but are very quick to point out where the "experts" ranked our 5 best current players. If you ask me, it's not a coincidence that the highest rated players on the team as recruits, just so happen to be our best players. We can keep doing the "In Mick we Trust" thing, but you have to wonder how long you can be successful with recruiting classes in the 50s and 60s. I mean, some argue that we aren't even successful now, as just getting into the field with a mediocre seed seems to be our biggest achievement each season.

Anyway, I hope to get a "franchise player" in each class. We've had 1 in each class lately with good supporting cast type guys to go with it. I don't see it in this class yet. Williams might be it, but you'd have a hard time convincing me that it's Allen.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I just think that our only realistic chance at getting a "franchise" guy is a guy that slips through some cracks and doesn't get the hype he should. I think Evans was a guy that could have been ranked higher and guys like Caupain and Clark are guys that came here with a chip on their shoulder. I'm a big fan of Williams. If we locked him up and brought in one more (No idea who that would be) I would be happy.

Agree with your points. I think I like Williams more than you. In my opinion, I think he could be that marquee guy for that class.

I haven't been here in a long time because I think this site is so freaking negative. But I did actually see him play in Arizona before he went to Boys Town. I remember thinking somebody needs to tell Mick about this guy. He can play.

i like 4 year student athletes and hope we continue down that road.i also like how Mick is building the program. We have now got a shooter in Moore. We have a rim protector and if we land Williams we will be more athletic on the wing. And these players are backing up some very good players. Couple all that with Broome and I think you'll see us a bit more athletic and up tempo going forward. Mick has a talented young team that will only get better. I'm a bit concerned about our post depth this year if Brooks is a player we should be fine. Just to put things in context if Calipari came here with all his BS and one and doners I'd find another team to cheer for. As much as I like winning I enjoy watching the kids grow and get their degrees. Hope Mick can continue to build his brand and win a bit more but I enjoy his work.

And Jake I think he will add some high end talent for you but it won't be this class it will be next. When Clark,Washington and Moore are seniors. The following year your PG.

Here you go with the Calipari thing again Waite. Good grief. You know, you can get 4 year players that are also highly touted recruits. They don't have to be under the radar projects to be 4 year playets.

I've no problem with the way the program has been built. A strong foundation has been built on solid players that come to UC and grow with the program.

The next step is consistently getting a player or two that can elevate the program to another level. A Fortson. Satterfield/Johnson. There's nothing wrong with getting a 1 or 2 year player to mix in with your solid building blocks.

And I believe Mick has done that. Evans is an elevator in my opinion. Cumberland could be. This season is so important for many reasons, the least of which is that a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 appearance is another necessary piece to elevate things. Mick has proven he can consistently take teams to the tournament. Now he has to take the talent he's accrued and build a team that could actually threaten to make the 2nd weekend of the tournament and beyond.
