I love college basketball as much as anyone, but the transfer epidemic is way out of control. And it's severely hurting the sport.

Kids don't want to stay the course anymore. They don't want to deal with adversity. They'd rather just leave. It's the world we live in.

True statement right there. Not just in basketball but in life in general.

can agree to some extent. Fact is Coaches get paid to win not graduate players and develop good human beings. The system itself from the NCAA,Coaches,School administrators on down are about generating revenue. For the players lucky enough to help them reach that goal they are rewarded. The player certainly has a opportunity to Cash in on his free education but being a student athlete is no picnic from a educational stand point. Lots of pressure and scrutiny associated with being a so called student athlete. I always get a kick out of how high we set our expectations for a kid because he can play a sport well. If a athlete is caught with a fake ID or is under age consuming he is vilified. I didn't know a kid in school that didn't have access to a fake ID. Fact is they are the same as any other student maturity wise except they can play a sport very well. They are still 18 years olds.Rothstein should shut up and become a better analyst. He is making money off the game these kids provide. I don't buy tickets to hear him talk.

I'm not saying the players shouldn't demonstrate some more resolve and loyalty to the University. Just understand this, these kids are lied to, misled and used by many people along the way. Without a strong support system they are at the mercy of the lions. People will say anything to get these kids to commit. Things aren't as simple as some make it out to be.

I can agree with this. Also players are now fighting to get paid and many in the media are supporting them. If the NCAA really wanted to do something about all this they could. They are letting money control things and the big money schools make the decisions. Players do get lied to and used in some instances and sadly it starts as early as junior high anymore. Sports are just a reflection of society as a whole. We live in a what can you do for me society and a society where money controls everything. Why should college basketball be different?

Really is a broken system. Small group of people making a lot of money.

we might not be lock to make tournament with this team. I do believe between Sanders or Guyn one them will have breakout seasons. Still think to safe than sorry we need at least one more day one impact player. Never can have enough quality guards on team.

I don't think Guyn has the desire or the talent to have a breakout season and although I do like Sanders, he isn't athletic enough. Both of these players wouldn't be recruited by Mick if they were currently high school seniors. I think the program is in a much better position today than they were 4 years ago and I think Mick would be aiming a little higher on the recruiting trail.

I can honestly say I watched every UC game that was televised and I cannot recall Lawrence making a single jumper outside of the paint. And many shots he put up in the paint would get blocked. He simply never looked comfortable, he committed way too many fouls, and he might be the only player I've ever seen at UC who was a worse FT shooter than JJ. For as highly recruited as he was, he almost didn't look athletic enough or skilled enough to warrant a 5 star ranking. Maybe he was playing against very low level talent in high school.

Just curious why you say guyn doesnt have the desire to break out?

Its obvious after watching him play for 3yrs he plays with zero passion. He don't care if scores 50 or let his man score 50, he's going to have same body language.

he was hitting them before got hurt. Not that many but he made a couple. He has best fundamentals out of everybody on team that's why he had 5*. He looked weak at times but also had moments when you seen why he ranked so high. If one of our guards was 5* you'll see better intangibles from there game, you see it with Lawrence.

I remember the coaches looking at the stats halfway through the season and he was last on the team in steals. It was like 4 steals in 18 games or something. And I couldn't believe that Mick said when they sat down with him he was surprised the # was that bad. If he's all in, how is he not aware that he isn't making more of a contribution? I can see your guys point about Guyn. He is going to have to change a lot in order to win the starting job, but unfortunately his injury is really gonna slow him down.

he has helicopters vertical and I've NEVER seen him dunk. That's says it all right there

What is your fascination with dunking? Seriously. Just because a guy dunks, it doesn't mean he is a good player. The opposite is true as well. You are very opinionated but your opinions lack substance.

I don't know what to make of the JL transfer situation. I am assuming he is leaving but it seems odd that nothing has been made official on this either way. If he does leave, that means the only players with D1 experience will be:

Guyn (3 years)
Caupain (1 year)
Shaq (2 years)
Sanders (3 years)
Johnson (1 year)
Mormon (0 years)

That's a total of 10 D1 playing years of experience on the entire team. That's as many as SK, JJ, and TR had combined after this season and 7 going into the season from those three. If I am a recruit for either 2014 (if there is a scholarship available) or 2015, I am looking at this and thinking I have a shot to play early. Should be enticing to a lot of recruits.

The years of experience this year doesn't really bother me because we are playing a lot easier conference schedule this year we don't have Louisville, Rutgers we only have Memphis, Uconn, SMU that will be tough for the young guys and ill be happy if they split 1 from each of those games.

Last year wasn't so different with experience going in...
SK-3 years
JJ-3
Sanders-2
Guyn-2
Shaq-1
Titus-1
I'm not even gonna put Nyarsuk.
Could Ellis count as a year of experience for this year too?
I'd love to have another guy coming in ready to play (Martin). That could really help early in the year.

EVERYTHING on here is opinionated unless we gets facts off twitter or some other place. I'm a little big on dunking because 98% of guys that go to league dunk whenever they get opportunity instead of lay ups. If SK had guyn vertical and played above the rim he'll be a lottery pick.
