More minutes this year...Scott or Moore?

Unless we see a significant "attitude" change from last year out of Moore...I would say Scott. Scott fits the mold of what Cronin likes to have on the floor...athleticism and effort. He also seems to have a good work ethic and motor.

Moore just seemed like he was sleepy all the time

He needs to go to bed earlier or he will transfer away bc Cronin Wont have it

I wonder if one of these 2 redshirts this year. I would rather see Scott play because he sounds like he is more of a hustler and a boost of energy off the bench. Moore did not give us that last year. He came into the game ready to shoot and his offensive game has potential, but his defense and effort lacked.

With 11 scholarship players, no way anyone redshirts. Especially Moore. If he isn't starting to get it, no way the staffs signs up to keep him around an extra year.

Here is my guess for a minutes breakdown...let me know where I'm way off

Caupain - 30
Jenifer - 10
Cobb - 23
KJ - 20
Evans - 14
Shaq - 19
Clark - 29
Moore - 7
Scott - 6
Ellis - 28
DeBerry - 14

I think the 3 is where we can mix and match the most. Scott could get his minutes there, or we could go small and have a 3 guard lineup at times (that's assuming KJ improved his rebounding and overall aggressiveness).

With Shaq being a senior I really hope he justifies more than 19 minutes a game. That being said, I don't know who's minutes he steals in your breakdown. Lots and lots of talent on this team.

Man, IF we can play 11 deep with the lowest player still getting 5mpg, I think thats huge.

A lot of Time's UC would have to let up on the defense during stretches of the second half or end of the first but with them being so deep ( assuming the new comers are ready to play tough D) they should be able to play full on tough UC d for 40 minutes.

I don't see Moore, Scott or Jenifer playing much once we start facing better competition. I'd expect the same main 8 as last year with Evans in for Sanders. It is really hard to play more than 8-9 guys major minutes.

I agree and with the tough non-conference slate it won't take long till we start playing that tougher competition. I think Caupain, Cobb and KJ see the lion's share at the 1 and 2 and I think the same with Clark, Ellis and DeBerry at the 4 and 5. We need Shaq as a fifth year senior to hold down the 3 spot and give us 30 minutes a game. We NEED that, whether or not it happens is in the air. I think Shaq will be a more focused player this year but his skill set still doesn't mesh with our style of play.

Shaq just isn't a 30 minute a game guy. What this team needs is Evans to be ready to score in the 15-20 minutes he gets behind Shaq. If this team can consistently get 13-16 points a game from the 3 they will be very dangerous...

I agree with this. I just don't see anyone stealing Ellis, Clark, Caupain, Cobb and Johnson's minutes. Seems like the only available minutes are Shaq's and Evans sounds like the guy to get that.

Clark is going to get in foul trouble in some games because of how aggressive he gets, I would rather Scott comes in when Clark comes out, because the pace of play stays the same. Scott looks like he can run the floor and play defense, I'm really not expecting anything out of him offensively and he really doesn't have to do anything but rebound and defend. Moore is such a bad defender and a liability on defense I really don't think he plays unless we blow someone out. I said last year I could see morman transfer and this year I can see Moore transfering.

If the three new players don't contribute much, I see that as a huge problem. They need to contribute and if our coaches don't get them there, we will lose ground. This team has national potential if the new guys contribute. I don't see Ellis as POY simply because of his emotional state on the court. He literally takes himself out of games when he becomes upset. The coaches need to fix that problem. If fixed, he could be POY. When he leaves the game for emotional reasons, it really hurts the team. He can't get pissed off because he's feels he's being pushed or fouled or no calls are being made or comments are made to him by the opposition. As soon as the opposition learns of his issues, they will exploit. Jenifer and Scott need to contribute for this team to advance far into the tourney. Finally, I firmly believe after attending the UK NCAA game in Louisville, that if we had coach Cronin for that game, we may have won. Coach Davis's substitutions including Moore at the start of the second half really hurt the team. He made a bad 3 point shot, the coach left him out there and he gave up two baskets and made a foul. At that point, we lost the game and momentum. All the UK fans in my area were worried to death. Many I spoke to after the game stated they were then and are now worried about Cincinnati. To see the concern on the UK fans faces was worth the admission price of my ticket and then some.

In Caupain's interview with Dan Hoard, TC said Scott runs the floor well, but will need to learn how to play defense and work on his toughness. I'm not sure he is ready to be a PF at a high level yet. I'd personally rather bring DeBerry in and slide Ellis to the 4 when Clark has fouls. I bet we'll see Quadri before Scott too, just bc he knows where to be.

C'mon. No way. We were down 62-43 at the end.

I still believe Scott plays more than Moore does, particularly later in the season. He will learn that if he wants to play he has to play defense.

Assuming the CBS Sports poll just released is any where close to accurate, it means that UC would be playing 14 of its 30 games this season against top 100 opponents.

Which is great to hear (i know i know, its early and those polls will probably be way off but still).

Here is a break down of the schedule:
Top 50: 9 Games
51-100: 5 Games
101-200: 6 Games
201-300: 7 Games
300+: 3 Games

Good to see that the top portion of the AAC is helping with the conference SOS but i'd love to see teams like ECU, Houston and UCF string together some good seasons to get them selves into the top 100 or top 150. Every year the AAC gets better from top to bottom, But regardless I still want out ASAP

What would you consider a success for the season? Just curious where everyone on here is at. For me I think AAC champs is something we should contend for every year. This year we win it. 3-5 seed in the tourney. I think we have all the talent to make the elite 8. That would be a success to me. Sweet 16 would leave me with an okay feeling, anything less would be a disappointment.

If we don't make the Sweet 16 or better, that would suck...but we can still have a great year if we win the conference/conference tourney, or spend the majority of the season ranked in the Top 25 with a good RPI. I don't want to weigh all of our success on the tournament bc anything can happen. But playing to go to the Final 4 would definitely be pretty amazing.
