Dude, you are going to wonder why you ever wrote this. Cane Broome is no joke at all. I don't know what you know or don't know as far as seeing him play or know connects around the team, but hands down the PG we are looking for. I have never been this excited for a new UC player so I am way past the getting excited part.
Not saying he won't be really good, I hope he is - just saying I want to see him in action against high level opponents before anointing him as the next Oscar

Im not sure if we will play them this year or not, but i believe, from what i thought i heard(im wrong a lot though) is NKU would open the 2018 season at the new shoemaker---yes thats what i will always call it.

That makes sense. So, would we make a return trip in '19 there or would that be it, just them coming to the New Shoe?

I really think Broome's numbers are worse because of how much he had the ball in his hands at SH. I like to think of it compared to SK's senior year, where he essentially was our offense. SK accounted for 28.9% of the possessions. That's a lot.

Broome's sophomore season he accounted for 30% of the possessions. He was used more and was targeted as the number one weapon for his team. His scoring average was higher than it will be for UC, no doubt, but he won't have to take so many shots. I am willing to be a lot of his shots at SH were forced because no one else was capable of putting the ball in the basket.

He impressed me at the scrimmage this past fall and I think he will be a great player while he is here.

I looked at his assist to turnovers this morning and if i were you dont do it....sorry guys.

same thought -- plus some have posted that one of the in coming frosh is the next nick van excellent. Hope is eternal, but I hope they are just good.

I would love to see another Pat Cummings or perhaps a Robert Miller or Reuben. I won't even put in Kenyon.

Transfer Cane Broome. He will be a Junior

Someone already did some of this, but just to add to it:

Caupain/Johnson Combined
60.5 Minutes/G
38.8 FG%
31.6 3FG%
71.3 FT%
4.0 FTA/G
2.8 3FG/G
18.4 Point/G
6.9 Rebounds/G
5.6 Assists/G
2.4 Steals/G
0.4 Blocks/G
2.4 TO/G

The FG% and 3FG% are both below team average. The FT% is almost 3% above team average.

Their combined stats per 40 minutes
2.6 FTA
1.8 3FG
12.2 Points
4.6 Rebounds
3.7 Assists
1.6 Steals
0.3 Blocks
1.6 TO

Cumberland averaged about 19 Minutes/G. Say that gets bumped to 29. And Broome plays 25. Can that + 25 extra minutes from Jenifer, Williams, etc = or surpass the production of Caupain and Johnson? I think it can, and that doesn't even account for better efficiency or improved stats for anyone else on the team.

Are we only expecting Broome to get 25? I figured he would be a minimum 30 maybe even 35 min. He's coming from being the guy that probably had to be in the game most of the time, I don't know his numbers but I'm betting he played 36-38 there. But I definitely don't see a loss in production next year. Interested to see how good cane Broome is when he doesn't have to do everything, hoping he can be a little more efficient. And I expect a huge jump from Cumberland maybe even bigger than Evans between his fresh/soph years.
And our pace should see a huge leap as well, i loved caupain but we all know how deliberate and sometimes slow he could be. Switching between Broome and JJ at point is gonna be fun.

CJ McCollum senior year 2.9ass 2.7 TO 32% usage
Klay Thompson jr year 3.9ass 3.7 TO 32% usage

These were just a couple guys I found real quick who came from smaller schools and as we know have done pretty well for themselves. I know they both have a couple inches on Broome. But going trough just some random people I never heard of, high usage guards it isn't uncommon at all for them to have an even ass/TO ration or even a slightly negative one. That's just what happens when you have the ball in your hand 30% of the time

25 is probably the extreme low end for Broome. He's never played here so I didn't want to just assume more than that. The more he is over 25 though, the easier it will be to replace the lost production.

Lillard at Weber State was 4.0 AST/2.3 TO with 33 USG% his SR year. But 3.3 AST/2.8 TO with 32.5 USG% his JR year.

Elfrid Payton at ULL was 5.9 AST/2.3 TO with 27.6 USG%

Broome was 2.9 AST/3.8 TO with 31.2 USG%.

These other guys were also upperclassman and really high draft picks, so we'll see how Broome does here.

Jeremy Lin was 4.3 AST/3.8 TO as a JR but can't find his USG%.

SR year was 4.5 AST/3.1 TO with 26.1 USG%

Is it a stretch for me to think that Broome's assist numbers would be better if his teammates were better?

Legit asking. Sacred Heart is terrible. I can't imagine Broome would want to pass knowing he's far and away the best player on his team. Then, when he did pass, did those guys make shots?

I admit the TO% is high but I feel like he was a young player with a team that needed him to do everything offensively to win.

Sacred Heart was 195th in FG% and 310th in 3FG%. Certainly doesn't seem like he had help.
