Seriously. Dude could have picked Nevada because his great grandpa went there. Who the hell knows.
It seems like Mick and co are at least in the conversation for higher rates players in 19 and 20, which is better than 17-18, at this point in the recruiting stage thats all we can ask for

Kinda like how Gaffney's dad played at UC.

Exactly. There are three boxes that need to be checked for a college coach. Regular season success, tournament appearances and long tournament runs. He has checked off two of the three and now he needs to look himself in the mirror and figure how to check off the third box.

I definitely agree with this.

I believe we do have the right staff to do it for several reasons: we continually get to the tournament, 7-8 years in a row, and we have had back to back 30 win seasons. Also, I believe Cronin has shown an ability to adapt his recruiting strategy based on the results on the floor. Seven or eight years ago he recruited athletes that needed someone to teach them offense. He realized that wasn't working, mainly because he has trouble teaching offense, so he started recruiting more offensive minded players and teach them defense. Based on this I expect him to continue to adapt and find UC quality players who will help us advance.

I hope so. But the "offensive revolution" that got us Clark, Evans, Washington, Broome and Cumberland could be over after this year. I'm just not sure how many guys in the new core after them are going to be at that level. Even Jon Rothstein says our roster makeup is not that of an AAC Champion next year.

Young man there has been nothing more tiring then your spiel since our last game. Without knowing why the player picked that school or what inducements May have been used it is really foolish to speculate. It is fun though.

At least it is appropriate timing :)

It's not a spiel. It is realistic thinking.

I'm interested in what your conclusion on UC basketball is based on Nevada getting a 5*. Last year Western Kentucky got a 5* and look how impactful that was to their program. Stuff happens in recruiting and this is one of those things. Absolutely nothing can be concluded on UC basketball and Mick Cronin as a coach because a 5* choose Nevada in the middle of May.

My conclusion is that Nevada doesn't seem to sit around and whine all the time that everything is unfair.

What are you talking about? How do you know that? When has anyone associated with UC said something is unfair? You’re just making stuff up to prove whatever point you’re trying to make. And I have no idea what that point is.

You gotta be shitting me.

You are becoming a joke.

Nevada getting a 5 star late should be a critique of Mick? Come on man. You were better than that.

I hate excuses. And that's all we get around here. That's all you guys do good. It's either a conference thing, or a financial think, or a seeding thing, or a heart attack.

Hey Guys lets calm down a bit. Look we have a good program. We have a Coach that has provided that good program under very challenging circumstances. Is it as good as we would all like, probably not. But under the parameters we are forced to operate under it is a good program. It has been kicked around on here for years about underachieving and what our expectations ought to be. Frankly it is tired and old but yet it consumes almost every thread. Reality is this, Mick isn't going anywhere. Rather you believe we would be better off parting ways or not is not important. Only the people who employ him can make that call. The most hits on this site are usually generated based on some kind of debate about his employment and job performance. Very little of it is based on fact. Enjoy the banter but remain civil and realize that in the end there are much more important things to worry about. Everyone have a Great day!!!!!!!

LOL if Mick recruited like Musselman this board would have a fit. He has landed one good recruit (who hasn't stepped foot on campus yet) since he was hired in 2015. We'll see how long his transfer philosophy works out.

Add in that he is coaching for another job, either in the nba or a better collage job. He ain’t staying there.

Either way he equaled what Mick has done at UC in 3 years at Nevada. This year Nevada won their conference and made a S16 and had the MW Player of the year.

Inartful sentence but if you mean Nevada has gone further than UC in just last 3 years that's somewhat correct, but in Mick's tenure he has equalled Nevada's 3 "accomplishments" you list- Conference champ, POY and S16 app. and technically, Nevada hasn't won Conf. Tourney championship either, I don't think. Let's see where Nevada is in say the next 5 years.

They won conference tourney championship in 2017, so yes Musselman in 3 years has equaled Mick's top 3 team accomplishments, S16, Conference champs, tourney champs
