You can make excuses for every recruit. Why they are available, why we got them, who cares. Are they here or not. Maw looks good. Davenport will at least be Tre Scott level I think. And Harvey who knows. I like the his recruiting so far but you can pick it apart if you want. Especially since we don’t know what these players are yet.
The big East name is the biggest reason. It’s hard to get those guys within 6 months of taking a job. You have to recruit those guys for years. I didn’t expect him to come in and it start raining 4 stars.Time and time again, we see that high level recruiting matters in the tourney.
I just don’t get why the school a few miles away can get 4 star after 4 star.

At XU, which is already a super small school, basketball is the only major sport so those kids literally walk around like Gods those 4 years they're there. At UC and other bigger schools that have football programs that's not the case. A lot of students don't even know who they are or assume they're on the bball team because they're really tall.
That actually makes a big difference for high school kids.
Xu had been slowly building up to better recruits. Every hire they made was from the system so there were always the same targets. Plus they've made multiple ncaa tournament runs, and lets face it, that helps recruiting.

MAW was a special circumstance because he his coach was fired
Davenport was literally v-tech and that’s it.. and it was mostly local ties to his prep school. He was not sought after in HS or prep and to be honest I see a lot of Trevor Moore in Davenport. A lot of energy, not a ton of basketball IQ
Gabe has major offers. But we had sign his low major brother to get him. We were the only school willing to take both on his major offer list
But his brother has a low major offer list.
Mikey Saunders is mid major offer list as well.
MAW is a high major player. I’m certain of that
But I’m not even close to sold on Davenport
The big one for me will be Tari Eason. We land him and keep Zach Harvey then it’s a good foundation

John Brannen the whole reason we in this mess. This team coming into the yr was one of the best in the nation. Whats up with the guys with 13 following their name on here, no matter what they are like iron sheet protecting the coach i just dont get it. Its amazing how uc just waists 3 decades of traditon for a guy from Kentucky. You know how i feel about confrence play and Tennessee is overrated, both teams certainly didnt play their best. Oh and that Davenport kid is all team spirit but not much production wise. Brannen is gonna need to recruit his ass off8-8 seems right with a semis loss in the conference tourney, doesn’t mean I’m given up on Johnny brannen, but it will take 2 years til he gets us back to the NCAA tourney
