UCLA fans will quickly turn on mick if he doesn’t beat AC. Lol none expected to be here this year, but lose to Ac and your good karma with them goes away.

AC is legit good, stuck with every high major they played this year and force like 20 turnovers a game

They’re just high energy, they are all over the place. Play smart and efficient ball they would be an easy team to beat. I don’t see UCLA having any issues with them. They’re way too small.

Yea. I’m at peace with the idea that Brannen is our coach. And my assumptions about him were mostly right. But winning forgives everything

But I don’t give a shit who he signs. I just need to be shown he can win the noncon and keep the recruits he signs around long term.

I absolutely think we need a staff shake up though. No one on our staff could get a high major job if they even wanted it, it’s a low major staff. We need a shake up.
Micks staff was never exactly “high major” by your standards. Those guys tried to get jobs. Let me guess, that’s different?

A guy from mick’s staff is the lead recruiter at Oregon now, another is at Virginia Tech right now.

His staff has zero experience recruiting against other high majors, if you think the recruiting has been great then I’m happy for you.

Travis Steele Is an aweful coach, but his first order of business was to bring in two assistants from high major programs. Both have landed Xavier really great classes,

Jason gee Is a life long low major guy

One of the guys Brannen hired, he never planned as having as an assistant but rather just on the extended support staff. But he had trouble getting guys to the job and made him a full on recruiting assistant.

This staff is not good,

And maybe Brannen is just not a likable guy and it will make it tough to bring in guys who have power school budgets.

Also Mick’s budget for coaches was actually much lower then Bohn gave Brannen.

Oral roberts has as many sweet 16s as we do the last 20 years. If you are still wondering why people were fine with a coaching change, just read that again. I’m not saying it was right, but I don’t think it was wrong to want to try something different

It was arrogant of us to think with our current conference affiliation that some one was gonna do better.

We traded consistency for the hopes of Cinderella runs. That’s what brannen has shown me so far... that he is a Cinderella coach. A coach that makes you absolutely miserable for 3 straight months and tries to go on a Cinderella run.

I ain’t tryna be Oral roberts. Or NKU.

If John doesn’t deliver 25 wins, top 3 in the conference and a top 8 seed or better next season then I think we move on.

I hope he can because this fan base can’t take one more year of what ever brand of basketball this is.

It's too bad no one rolled over for Mick's teams here. We always played the highest seed possible.

Under Huggins we had upsets in our favor pretty often. In his 1992 final four run we were the favorite in every game as a 4. In 1993 we played a 6 seed in the sweet sixteen as a 2. In 1996 we played a 5 seed in the elite eight as a 2. In 1998 we played a 10 seed in the second round as a 2. In 2001 we played a 13 seed in the second round as a 5.

If he woulda held the Nevada lead and won, the higher seed was waiting in the sweet 16. Loyola maybe?

It’s not arrogant to want more than 1 sweet 16 in 12 years. You always are quick to blame the coach for everything except winning on the biggest stage. If you want to be taken seriously as a program, that doesn’t cut it. Make all the excuses you want.

Yeah, he really never made it far enough to play a lower seed. That usually only comes into play in the later rounds. We played and lost to Harvard as a 12. Would have played Loyola. Have to win to play these teams

Was just looking at it, if Oregon St wins all 8 teams that advanced to the sweet 16 today will be from different conferences. That’s crazy

Was just talking about this, Mick playing a 14 tomorrow, that never happened here. We were always a 6 playing a 3 in the second game, or anywhere from a 7-10 seed having to play a 1-2 in the second game. And Xavier is one of those teams that gets lucky like that a lot, having to play 2 double digit seeds to go to the sweet 16. It’s just luck of the draw and bad seeding sometimes

I truly believe we would have made at least 1-2 more sweet 16s if we would have been seeded a little differently or had a lucky draw every now and then

Yeah that was the one year I feel like we BLEW it. But I still don’t think that’s on the coach, maybe to some extent, but he’s not on the floor, he’s not making out players tighten up and make mistakes, they choked.

But that’s no what happened every year, those were outliers. What about getting seeded again AD at UK, and so on. How many years were we an 8/9 seed

Cause the cream puff ooc schedule he put together hardly translated to a high seed. Even when we were in the big East.
