When we play SMU in Dallas, I hope Larry Davis plays a little zone. 2-3 and 3-2. Like every 3rd or 4th possession because I truly believe that SMU will practice all week to beat our man to man. It also help keep Ellis out of foul trouble. A zone will screw them up but good. I like that about Larry. He mixes it up a little more than Mick.

It may just be me but we are in a match-up zone a lot more this year than man2man. The match-up zone looks a lot like man because it has man2man principles and we extend the zones to help a lot but if you look closely it is still a zone. I would say over the last 5 games or so we play 90-95% zone so I don't think that they will be looking to prep much for our man D.

On D though we need to shut down Kennedy and Moreira on the glass and prevent easy points as that is a hell of a front court, also it would be nice not to let Nic Moore get hot from 3 because when he struggles he turns the ball over a tonne.

Yeah we've been all zone. It is remarkable how much we've improved too. Early on against Ole Miss we had holes that left the mid range stuff open...Then against teams like SDSU (they missed the shots) and VCU we gave up tons of open looks from 3. We figured that out in time to play NC State...But then against UConn and Memphis, we gave up lots of easy baskets right at the rim. We are now playing great at every level. And imo it's bc the guys responsible for the perimeter now know they just have to get out there. And they fully trust that if they get beat, they'll have the next wave to come help. And guys like KJ, Troy and Ellis are savvy enough to cover the ground.

Losing to ECU is an absolute embarrassment. This was one of the most painful games to watch that I have ever seen as a UC fan. The play calling, substitutions, execution, body language, and effort were all horrendous. ECU out hustled UC the entire game.

Among the worst regular season losses in a lot of years.

We didn't get on floor for ZERO loose balls.

No surprises. Temple wins and UCONN blew out ECU in the second half, which is what we were supposed to do.

Why is Memphis playing Jacksonville St. right now? And why are they playing 2 non-conference games in a row anyway?

Houston is getting better. Saw Kelvin Sampson in the office after his Coach's show the other day, he's pretty optimistic about what's going on there.

The strtech of games in front of UC is huge for several reasons:

1) They are one game behind SMU with the tie breaker.

2) SMU and Tulsa play tonight @ Tulsa, then Tulsa goes to UConn, has Temple at home on the 22nd, @ Memphis the 28th, Bearcats March 4th, then @ SMU to finish the regular season.

3) SMU has perhaps an even tougher road with the home and home games with Tulsa, and home and home with UConn and Memphis on the road remaining, as well as Temple at home.

4) Temple has road games at SMU, Memphis and Tulsa and are at home with UC and UConn.

5) UC plays on the road at Temple and Tulsa and finishes with Memphis at home. These are the only games they play against top 6 league teams to end the season. They can't afford another ECU game and they clearly still have a path to the league championship if they take care of business.
