He is ignorant and disrespectful. Stand and support the people who fought and died for our country (black, white, everyone). Hes doing nothing but making himself look stupid. Id cut his ass immediately. This oppressed country is where you are making millions. Stand up and stop being disrespectful and ignorant. And this shouldn't be news he is an absolute scub who cant even start over Blaine Gabbert.
Rob he has made it very clear he is not protesting against those who have served. How would you feel if I wouldn't stand as a 20 year veteran in support of the 22 veterans a day that are committing suicide because they can not get treatment at the VA. Would you protest with me???

He is donating. How many of his sponsors do you think will touch him now. You think he hasn't put his career at risk?

I guess I don't understand his methods. Of all the things he could do he chooses to point out that the United States is so oppressive that it recognizes the right to not stand for the national athem.

Is this a parody? You took every horrible argument and combined them into one post. Congrats.

I'm not going to get overly political here. But the article you cited was a judge selling all juveniles not just one particular race.
My friend you can not be that gullible. If I showed you a breakdown of the numbers would you be surprised to see it was heavily slated towards young black kids.

If anyone is interested I have no issue with his actions. I don't find it disrespectful and applaud his stance. There is still many injustices that are happening everyday in this country. As a 20 year veteran who stood a post with many people of different races I know and have seen to many instances to think it isn't still very much happening in today's America. I have personally seen and been a part of a few such events. I was visiting a bar in Melbourne Fla with a subordinate of mine who was a black man when we decided to stop for a beer before heading home. We ordered a drink and thought we would play a game of pool. Before we could break, a man walked to the table and picked up the cue ball and informed us the Klan was alive and well in west Melbourne. In my younger days I played inter service league basketball and just like today I was a minority on the team as a white man. We would travel to near by bases for games and of course we would go out at night. While standing in line to get in I paid my cover and walked in while my black military brothers were asked for 2 picture ID's. On another ocassion I was riding to a wedding for one of by combat crew members who was a black man. I was asleep and we were pulled over for a tail light. I woke up to the shouting of a police officer pointing a loaded gun at us. All for a taillight. While discrimination is not as open as it was years back it is still very much in existence. As assimilated as I have tried to become after a upbringing in Norwood it still requires that I slow down and try to understand all sides of a issue before passing judgement. I constantly have to reconfigure my inherited prejudices by challenging myself to look at another side of a issue.

People are saying he could have found another way to make his point but why should he have to make this point to begin with. We continually miss the easy things in this country. Where is the outrage for the 22 military vets a day who take their own lives. We are incarcerating children to fill beds in the juvenile system in this country for prison for profit corporations. A judge just received 28 years in jail for this crime in PA. I'm for anyone who wants to right wrongs and darn anyone who's only rebuttal is he should have found another way to make his voice heard. Sorry for the rant but I have grandkids I will be leaving behind someday and this shit needs to end. Acting like it doesn't exist will not get the job done.

Well said brother.

i understand your concern but I have to disagree somewhat. His not standing has shed more light on his cause then anything done recently to my recollection. And he did it peacefully. Brother your certainly entitled to your beliefs but we need real change in this country. It's my opinion unless your well armed with the almighty dollar in this country your chances of creating change is slim to none.
There's nothing wrong with having different viewpoints. I respect your thoughts on the subject.

You really think these are sincerely held beliefs of his?
Doug he certainly is risking a lot in the way of sponsors and career. Why else would he do it.

Doug let me ask you a question do you really think it's a even playing field out there? Do you think that if I a white man was walking through Walmart with a air rifle in my hand heading to the check out line anyone in the store would have called the police. And the police would have approached me with weapons drawn and opened fire. I'm not saying that in a effort to make all police look bad but they suffer from the same conditioning that I suffer from.

I live in a all white neiborhood and I truly believe most of the people who live there are good people. If anyone regardless of race color or greed needed help most would certainly give it. But in that same neiborhood if a realitor was showing a home that came up for sale and was being shown to a black couple does anyone doubt that they would not like to see that sale go down.

Guys this old man is headed to bed. Thanks for all the comments. Hopefully we have all learned something from one another.

My friend we are oppressive. In my life time I have seen the civil rights bill passed in 1964. MLK shot down, Malcolm X shot down, Robert and John Kennedy shot down. Emmit Till was lynched in the 60's for looking at a white women. When the constitution was written it provided no avenues for Women, Indians or Blacks to air concerns. They couldn't vote, speak in public, teach or take concerns to court. What the hell happened to all men are created equal. We incarcerate more people in this country by a larger number then any other country In he world. As progressive as we like to think we are how in the world did we fight a war amongst ourselves over the right to own another human being. Our country has been at war almost my whole life. Its very hard to learn from our past when we are constantly taught lies. It starts in school and at home. It won't be legislated away. it will only be disposed of my looking in the mirror and educating yourself. If you want to broaden your knowledge base get out of your comfort zone. You won't find the answers in the media. I hope I haven't bored the heck out of you all but I am passionate about the PEOPLE in this country not symbols.

This site isn't really here for political takes. This thread is kind of a catch-all for College Football. I get the Kaepernick thing, but can you spare us the lecturing? I'm sorry, but I'm not here for that. I come here to talk UC/sports. Not trying to be insensitive, but I just really don't think this is the platform for these types of rants. Not saying you're right or wrong. Just saying this isn't the place. I get you're passionate. That's great. But BearcatTalk isn't here to tackle all the issues of the world.
