I know for a fact that the Big 10 network put several OSU games (I believe the Wisconsin game a few years back) on the Big 10 network to force Time Warner Cable and others to succumb to their terms and pick up the network. I remember hearing people here in Columbus complaining about it.
As for two top 25 teams, there haven't been a lot of those games in the Big 10 in recent years (at least between the marquee programs). Michigan has been down. Wisconsin and Ohio State really were the only two consistently ranked in the conference. The Big 10 is pretty bad so there aren't many of those games. Yes, ABC and ESPN still have rights and still get big games. If you pay attention you should notice that more and more games are being televised by the Big 10 Network. In fact, at least on DirecTV, there is a BTN Alternate channel in which two games are being played simultaneously. It is only a matter of time until the Big Ten moves all their games to the network. They still need to get the network picked up nationally, but when that happens, ESPN knows they will have to either put up a lot of money or not have any rights to the conference. If you don't think the BTN pissed off ESPN, you weren't paying close enough attention.
I asked for a Marquee matchup, as you stated previously. I'm sure ESPN is sweating bullets that they lost the Iowa vs Tennessee Tech game and Michigan vs Youngstown St game to the Big Ten Network.
I was simply saying that the Big Ten Netowork has not had one this year or in a while. ESPN could care less about Minnesota vs Youngstown State. Currently there are 5 teams in the BCS top 25 from the Big East. (Doesnt sound too bad to me) The Big Ten Network does not have one of those matchups.
And as an Ohio State Football fanatic, I pay close attention to the Big Ten.
The Yankess have their own station as well. But if you pay close enough attention you will notice that ESPN does not shut up about them.
